Surprizing Optics Quality

On a whim, I picked up Cabela's Intensity HD binos in 8x42. On sale, they were $159. I'm an optics junkie with Swarovski, Leica and Zeis binos in the safe (I usually pick up year or two old glass from Guides who get great pricing on new models) so I know what good glass is. I'm simply astonished at the clarity and light gathering for this price point. No, they don't match highend stuff at dusk, but they are very bright and sharp. They appear to be the equal of my much more expensive 8x42 Pentax glass. A couple caveats. I don't know how they'll hold up over time, or whether they're truly water proof. They are a bit heavy for their size as well. However, for knocking around in the whitetail woods, they'll probably see a great deal more use. Just my 0.02.
