Best one he got was a gun safe full of rifles, handguns, and gold coins...

Bought some guns pretty cheap once at a garage sale from a woman who was pissed about something. I didn't ask but she sure wanted everything gone before lunch time.

I wonder if the tiller could have been stolen and ditched because they felt some heat. I know a guy at a salvage yard who said a lot of stuff like that use to get sold for scrap wt. when it couldn't be sold on craigslist.

The guy who brought the tiller also brought a cone spreader...dad passed away and had this "Junk" laying around the back yard and they said he didn't even have a tractor. (My Buddy asked them when they brought it in). It is more common than you think for kids or relatives to toss really great stuff when someone dies because they don't know what it is or have any use for it...

A neighbor of mine near Home 10 bought a piece of property many years ago that had several old 30's to 50's model car bodies on it...around 50 cars total...They were there for many years and a neighbor of his had a dozer guy out rebuilding a pond and this guy go's over and asked him if he can pay him to push the car bodies off in a deep hollow and push dirt over them so he didn't have to look at them anymore. He did this when scrap was about $200 a ton just a few years ago. I would have hauled everyone of them off for free for him but didn't realize what he was doing until I got in from work and saw the aftermath...

Gun safe he got came from a storage unit rental place. The place said they had no way of opening it and so they hauled the whole units contents to the land fill. The landfill guys opened it with heavy equipment...

Cobra Manufacturing (bow sights, stabilizers, releases, etc...) went out of business a few years ago and they dumped their entire inventory at this landfill. All new still in the package. My releases and sights on our bows came from that deal.

When places like Lowes, Home Depot, etc.. get new inventory and new models come out and nobody buys the marked down older units they toss them new in the box. I don't know how many Electric heaters he has gotten and given to me. Also wet or dry vacs and even a new seat for my Polaris 4-wheeler...all from this landfill...

Guy is living the dream working at a dump...

Wow. I will say, if a person has never had to clean the crap from house and grounds of parent that has passed, they are in for a treat. There is crap everywhere and it is overwhelming and with limited time, just try to unload as simply as possible. Exactly why parents should unload long before their demise if possible.

But how many pages you think he could fill up with the truly horrifying things he has seen? I can only imagine those treasure hunt days are few and far between the dirty diapers and other landfill treats! :D

cant say I would want to work at a landfill but the stuff you would see come in like this has to be pretty neat

It's not a household trash place so dirty diapers and such aren't a part of the equation. Mainly manufacturing, retail, and storage facility refuse. Very clean! I have seen the guy as soon as he gets off work and he is clean enough to go straight to a nice dinner from work. He pays for all of his deer leases, hunting equipment, boat etc...out of extra money from work. Construction and remodels garner him a lot of copper wire that he and 2 others split then all the other new/nearly new stuff that comes in...
