I saw this camera at my local Walmart for $148. Does anybody have an opinion on this camera? 12 mp with built in solar panel and battery.

I'm sure it is very nice. IMO the only way it would be useful is as a plot watcher. Battery life is so good on most cameras you would not need unless you are only going to check it once a year. Solar charged battery packs are pretty easy to find and components to assemble one even cheaper are easy to find for under $15.00.

I've been trying wrap my brains around one. I was also told (and practice) to make sure your cameras are facing north to avoid exposure. I know by doing so it helps to minimize false triggers and overexposed pictures. Would this camera work if it faced north with no direct exposure to the sun? I have a couple solar panels on the house and the formulas for setting them where not hard but wasn't as easy as strapping them to a tree. Just my 2 cents

In the woods ,with out direct sunlight point it in any direction. False triggers are just part of the game, i.e. wind blown brush. If the camera is good ,it will pick up motion. If you point east or west ,your going to have some over exposed pics. at a given time of day. Solar panels produce energy in light. More so in direct sun, less in the shade. I just picked up a card in place since May. 1700 triggers. 250 useful deer pics. Many coons ,squirrels, rabbits, birds, coyote, bobcat, turkey and mostly brush movement. It's a window to another world.

Might want to change the settings on you camera if able to. I can get 1000 pictures and 995 will be of wildlife. Very rarely will I get a false trigger due to brush

I am going to pick one up this week and deploy it next Thursday. I will post up some pics in a couple weeks.

I have two and love for the price/value. On one, I bet I have 75,000 on one set of lithiums. It is on a timbered ridge and doesn't get more than an hour or two of direct sunlight a day. Some nighttime motion pics are blurry, but serviceable.

Its takes some good pics. Does it matter which direction you point it? Does it get enough sunlight if it pointed north to keep the battery charged?

Being a tight wad , my cameras are pretty much not adjustable for sensitivity. And generally I'm not the guy who spends $200.00 for a camera that can be easily stolen. I would post a pic of the set up, but refuse to pay for 3rd party hosting. Anyway my set up is in a edge of a spot logged off last year. It is a jungle of new growth. If I pointed it to a spot under the canopy of the mature timber, I would get few weed triggers, but I would not cover what I wanted to see. Thanks for the input. There are worse things than brush triggers.
