Spraying with Throw and Roll

What method are you guys using to terminate you fall RC/WR plots? This is what the plots looked like two days ago. Note that the T-post is at least 5 feet tall.

Basically the issue is that the foliage is too thick and tall, that when i spray with my 7 nozzle ATV boom there is lots of areas that just get missed. I did a test plot two weeks ago, and the kill was pretty good; however, there is some RC that is bouncing back. DO you guys have better luck by raising the boom height? Or is this just a consequence og the throw and roll method?

A good chunk of the yellow/green in this picture is the fall planted RC/WR.

It is going into LC brassicas mix. More specifically it's the BIG BUCK BRASSICA MIX from welter seed. You can see there is germination on this mix already in the test plot photos.

It's actually already planted as i had to get it down this past few days. I am basically planning for both next year and also for my next go around which will be oats/RC/WR/Radish into some spring planted wheat, which will go down in about 3 weeks.

This is what it looked like this past weekend as i put the LC mix down. You can actually see the spring planted oats on the left side on the second picture.

Whats "RC"? I had a similar plot i did last weekend containing last years winter rye and other "stuff". I spread honey hole brassica mix, drug a large oversided pallet behind the atv with rocks on it for weight and then sprayed afterwards. Havent been back to check on it but the processed looked promising plus several days of rain this week had to help.

Red Clover.

I sprayed before the the roll. Not sure if i should have done it after as you did.

I think either would work but i have a boomless sprayer so with tall weeds i wouldnt get the spray width needed to cover ground effectively

What herbicide were you using? If you were using glyphosate it might slow down your clover, a little, but probably won't kill it.

Using full rate glyphosate. Not sure if there is any other options for spraying and planting on the same day. I know with 2,4 D you are suppose to wait at least 2 weeks before planting.

Clover is hard to kill with glyphosate, but chances are, what you're going to have is a great brassica plot (any dead clover will add extra nitrogen) and when it dies off, your red clover is going to take back over, to feed your deer next spring.
