95% from 2 local co ops. Support my local business whenever I can. They get me whatever I want at competitive prices and I get to talk sports , politics, and whatever in my 1 hour visit to buy 5 minutes of stuff. And the one armed dude that loads my 50# bags of whatever faster than his younger cohorts is a pleasure to watch and chat with.

I prefer local. It usually saves money even if the base price is higher. It's damn handy to have local guys to lean on when you need something. That being said, I will pay shipping for some of my hard to find stuff. If you guys haven't had a talk with your local guys, I would. Inventories and new available seeds are growing quickly.

I still buy from my local feed store they use to be a lot cheaper but in the last 5 years since deer hunting/food plots has gotten more popular it has raised the prices of seed pretty much everywhere.

I still get IC peas from my feed store, but when I bought regular soybeans from him I got enough weed seed to make me have to go RR beans for two years in a row. I'm just now getting rid of pigweed and some other weed native to Kansas, so I won't be going that route again. I'm still learning........

I buy all my wheat by the ton and get it from my local feed and seed. I buy a lot of clover and do the same. I have to buy my fertilizer there anyway. The odd stuff, I have to order.

50lb bags of cereal grains, buckwheat and peas I purchase from a local feed & seed store or coop.

Smaller bags of seed and innoculant I usually purchase from Hancock. They do not fool around with shipping, so your order gets to you quickly. Unfortunately, Hancock does not carry Frosty Berseem, so I order that online from Seed World.

Eagle soybeans I order from Heather at Wildlife Analytical Laboratories, the online reseller for Eagle seeds.

I don’t think prices have changed so much from us plotters but farmers now rotate and leave no bare ground as we have been doing for years. They buy tons of the seed. Around me all fields are reseeded for winter w grains and brassicas after harvest of crops. They look like foodplots anymore. Good for soils and deer I guess but steals my drawing capacity. Bummer

Ohio is 50/50. Lots of guys still working and fitting ground like crazy, not a ton of cc used.

I buy most of my stuff at the local coops. If I plant soybeans or corn, I have a friend at a coop that hooks me up with the ripped and partial bags that cost me a case or two of beer. Anything I can't get locally I order from Welter's. I thank Paul Knox for steering me that direction.

Most online seed companies are expensive. I checked around, asking local farmers where they buy seed, ended up at Kings AgriSeeds, better, fresher seeds for much cheaper prices. I'd advise checking with your local farmers, they aren't paying BOB prices for sure. Also, I buy all of my small grains as bin run at the local feed mill, I've never seen much weed seed in this stuff, but imagine it could be a problem at some feed mills.

Welters for me. They have high quality seed and stuff I can’t get locally like sanfoin and aberlasting clover

For those in Texas ("local" to the Metroplex), Justin Seed Company has been pretty good. I have used them quite a bit in the past few years, and have been pleased with their pricing and product. They have an online ordering system, but you can phone order with them as well. They don't have all the options that places like Welter's or Hancock Seed does, but they provide most of the ones that my family is using. They even have a "LC cereal grain mix" of Wheat, Rye, Oats, Winter Peas, and Turnips - all you would need to add would be the clovers (which they have an option for "with clovers" as well).

I've talked with them over the phone a few times on some questions, and they have been helpful. They are good people.

I have purchased from Welter seed before and had good experiences everytime. They are very helpful on the phone as well. The last two years i have purchased from Merit Seed because they offer some seed varities i really wanted. Prices and shipping are good as well.
