Rural property and global pandemics

“Along with Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Cotton has introduced the “Protecting Our Pharmaceutical Supply Chain From China Act,” which promises to “cut off purchases of drugs with Chinese ingredients no later than 2025.”

Cotton has warned that the “low quality” of such drugs produced in the communist state is a danger to all Americans.

The bill would also “require drug companies to label the origins of ingredients in their drugs, so U.S. consumers are better informed of where their medicine comes from and whether it’s likely to be safe.”

The legislation will also encourage the medical industry to “manufacture in our country again by offering full and immediate expensing of factories, warehouses and capital goods related to the manufacture of drugs and medical devices on American soil.”

Sounds like a decent start but why trade China for more India. Why not declare the manufacturing as critical to national defense and put a 3/4/500% tariff on all of it.

Some stats on the H1N1 (swine flu) from April 2009 to April 2010 in the United States ONLY. By the way, my daughter, who was 13 at the time, caught it.

Cases: 60.8 MILLION
Hospitalizations: 274,000
Deaths: 12,469 (80% were people UNDER 65)
President: Democrat

This virus is a threat and can certainly be deadly, but make NO mistake. The virus is a convenient opportunity for the communist-controlled American media and the Deep State to take down Donald Trump by destroying the economy of the United States and to see how far toward a police state the people will allow themselves to be pushed. The Deep State and media want Trump gone because in a second term it is katy-bar-the-door in identifying and prosecuting the traitors and insurgents who tried to perpetrate a coup. China wants him gone because he will not allow them to rape us in trade. Those who think that is all conspiracy stuff will be the first to suffer. Guaranteed.
 
Well the president doesn’t see it that way. He just said even with the drastic measures put in place by his administration that we stand to lose between 100k and 200k Americans to COVID-19.

Like you, I rightfully question anything I’m being told. Especially if a politician is involved.

Didn’t say he was lying. You can only go with the information you have. Bureaucrats are NOT benevolent. Listen, I’ve been an elected official in a county of a million people for 8 years. Elected twice in a district of 250,000 people. Trust me when I say take anything the bureaucrats tell you. I’ve caught them in half truths more than once. I’m just trying to warn folks.

the doctors explained this at length. Models are driven by the data. Those figures are assuming every major city will be like NYC. That’s the data they have and that’s what is plugged in. They made very clear this may or may not happen. If it does, We will see those high numbers. If other major cities don’t end up being nearly as bad as NY then those numbers will be much lower. The models are updated with the new data constantly. Fauci said it best, prepare for the worst case but we have an opportunity to not be that bad. They just won’t know until more data gets put in over the next couple weeks.
 
nteresting fact, the Spanish Flu of 1918 was also caused by the H1N1 virus. Infected a third of the world and killed an estimated 675,000 Americans. Global population was 1.5B then and a hundred years later we’re at 7.8B.

I am 71 years old and have seen at least a dozen of these "pandemics" along the way. I have, though, never witnessed such an orchestrated hysteria since the Vietnam war protests. I had Swine Flu in 2009. Strangely, I was diagnosed with COPD about 12 months later. This whole affair is hard to fathom. LLC gave stats earlier about H1N1. We are not even close to being that bad yet. Of course, this time it is world wide. But times are different. Today people travel all over the world in a heartbeat. All three of my sons have been in more countries than I have ever been. I know of dozens of people who have been to China within the last 5 years. That was unheard of most of my life. The real facts are still being investigated and NOBODY knows it yet. This hysteria is purely done for politics. Wait until the "experts" get the facts sorted out and even then they won't agree. That's life.
 
Fortunately I’m as far away as you can get from NYC and still be in NY. About 430 miles. I’ve started restricting my news watching to about an hour in the morning and an hour at night. I feel better about that and might impose more restrictions on myself down to 5 min a day.
 
There isn't a single forum member who has lived through a pandemic of this magnitude. The state of NY alone is on a glide path to surpass the total number of deaths caused by H1N1. Of course the final numbers could be better or worse than current projections.

State governments are closing beaches, boat ramps, state parks and even fishing (WA) and hunting (NE non resident turkey). For once I have a hard time blaming the local governments. If the electorate can't or won't listen to recommendations then more drastic measures are taken.

Of course politicians will take advantage of any and every situation. Unfortunately that should just be assumed.
 
I think most states if not all have pretty tough restrictions at this point but, even in NY here they are encouraging people to get out and enjoy the parks and get some air. Just stay your social distance. I know my golf course is open. One person per cart or walk. Stay away from playing partners and don’t shake hands or move the flagstick. I figure the kids will be rolling in after a while so they have a little more room to rove out here in the country.

I don’t recall much of the swine flu when it came through other than it came through. Can you relay how you found out you had it and what they were doing for testing at that time.
