Before losing total sanity working on the tub I started making the winch mount. luckily I still have 3 of the 4 pc's that were original

Not to bad cutting 1/4" angle with a sawzall, slow going tho

Drill press a must though

Two hrs later most of the pc's cut. some grinding, drilling and welding to follow

I need to do another mini restore on my 1995 Nissan 4 x 4 pickup. I did one on it about 6 years ago but it has sat a ton since then and needs more work done again to get it up to speed...I don't even think I have actually put the last 2 tags I have had to buy for it on it so the gas in the tank is about 3 years old or more...

This is what happens when your nicely restored winch sits in a puddle of water for a yr due to a leaking shed

I got a sheet of 18 ga sheet metal so now I need a metal brake to bend it into panels. A friend of mine has one but thats no fun to drive there when I need something done soooooo off to lowes


Decided to try to make one with some hinges since my welding stinks




Can't seem to get away from spot welds



First try it bent a pc of aluminum perfectly



2nd try on some 16 ga steel and the hinges bent on me


So I made my own hinges with 3/4" pipe sleeved over 1/2" rod

Another try with steel and it worked pretty good. Need to adjust a few things to get a tighter bend

This is the route I took to stiffen the bender up. YES my welds suck but I'm learning

Also got the winch mount pc's welded up. Tomorrow some grinding, sandblasting and painting. Now off to the Fire Company picnic

Got my winch mount made. Test fit went well now it needs to be painted

So you all might be saying where has this project gone to ...or not... well heres the story. I also own a 1998 Jeep Wrangler.

For the past few years It's been popping out of 3rd gear so I finally decided to get a new ...not rebuilt... transmission for it. When I took the old one out I said what the heck I'll clean up the rust on the frame and this is what I found

SO with a brand new transmission sitting on the work bench I was pretty much locked into fixing or replacing the frame. Finding a donor frame proved to be a dream so I bought the parts to fix it. This rust is so common you can purchase repair kits to fix it

And fix I did

Also cleaned all the surface rust off the rest of the frame

Then I said what the heck I'll replace the rusted fender too

Then I said ......well I have to paint the fender soooooo why not paint the whole Jeep, so out came the sander

Then 4 coats of high build epoxy primer then some block sanding

This is where I'm at now. Still need to get the hood decals and put bed liner in the interior no more carpet
