Reconyx finally went out....

If memory serves I got it 10 years ago next month for Christmas. Went to change the card today and the light indicated batteries dead, wouldn't power on. Put fresh batteries in, same thing. I had just changed batteries a few weeks ago. It had been going down hill since it got infested with ants around May/June. Up to that point no issues. It was completely infested with sugar ants and after I got it cleaned out, it worked, but seemed the batteries were only lasting a few weeks instead of a few months. I would put fresh batteries in and it would say battery life 50%. I guess the ants messed it up inside somehow.

10 years does seem like a long time though. I have been through countless coverts during that time. I think I got close to 5 years out of one covert, the rest not much more than a year or two. Weather seals being the biggest issue. I have the idea of calling Reconyx to see about repairing it, but probably just better off buying new. Lot of pics taken with that cam over the years.

I’d send it back to Reconyx. They will probably fix it for $50. I have three from them and have probably looked at over a million pictures over the last 8 years. Great cameras.

I agree with Cutman...Send it in and either they will repair it or possibly give you a trade in value for your old camera for a new model. I have some that are 8 years old that have never missed a beat and I leave mine out 24/7/365. When they get the sims cards back in for AT&T, I’m going to order the new cell cameras.

I have a moultrie M80 Black I bought in 2011 that has been out taking pictures every day since I bought it. It is my go to if I absolutely must get the shot...wish I had bought 10 of them that year...
