I’m in the market for one, any ones to absolutely to stay away from?
Which brands/models should i make sure to check out?

I have a couple of Double Bulls that have made several hunts and are still in good shape. I had a fairly cheap Cabelas that sat out through three deer seasons but an unexpected snow ended that !:D Xenek, Big Mike, and Rhino have good reviews, but I’ve never hunted from one, really don’t know if they are still available. I’d go to one of the big outdoor stores and look at several different ones. Good luck !

We have used Barronett (sp) blinds with good success in the past. Not sure of they are a mainstream brand, but our local home and ranch store carries them..

I've used a few. Almost all of them with last if you don't let them sit out in the weather all year long. If you do they will last about 2-3 years.

We have used the Ameristep and Muddy Brands.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Do they leak in the rain as bad as I think they will?

Not too bad, they will leak a little at the seams. I once left all my stuff in one and it came a thunderstorm during the night. It was pretty cool with the front so I took a heater figuring I’d have to dry everything out. I was pleasantly surprised at how dry everything was inside. I usually have a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet roughly the same size of the blind footprint to use as a floor. Keeps dust down and is less noisy if you’re setting up on grass or leaves.

Thanks for info.

I have an original double bull matrix, it’s probably 16 years old and still my favorite. Should have purchased 3 or 4 of them. I haven’t found a blind that compares to the quality of those original DB’s. Still looking.

I buy the cheapest usually ameristep. I don’t hunt them till dec/Jan unless take the grandpups and they seldom last more than 2-3 years. Invariably a heavy snow or falling limb ruins them. I guess secret to drop them each hunt but that ain’t gonna happen
Pretty rain proof but if u coat them with backpacking tent waterproofing in the off season to let the smell go away they are quite good.

I agree. I bought two of the originals and they were so good that a couple years later I bought a third one. That was after they were bought out. The third one didn't last one full season. All the grommets tore out and it leaked in a mild rain. The first two are still being used by a couple of youngsters in the family.

What we bought the first time, about $60 each. They fit inside the Quad Pod Stands we got at Academy Sports perfect.

They lasted 2 years real good staying up all year then faded in their 3rd year.

My SIL bought two Muddy Blinds to replace them and told me they would last much longer because they were from Muddy. I put them up last year and they already had Seam Holes in them, when I told them he was shocked. He really thought the would be better and last longer because of the name.

Truth is they are all mostly made by the same Company. The Parent Company of Muddy also owns Ameristep and several other Outdoor Brands.

GSM or something like that. They own Hawk too because Hawk suddenly had big box blinds identical e to Muddy’s.

Something like that.

They got into the Saddle Game with the Hawk Helium I believe.

After looking at several brands online, I think your right with most of them being made by one company and sold with different brand logo.
