Pinetag's Plot - 43 acres in Virginia

So this is a work in progress but I got a decent amount done on my walking/atv bridge yesterday.

Before...

I have some more cross bracing to put on, more 1/2" bolts (I ran out) to attach the beam boards together, and the decking boards to install.

Something I recently found out is this 15 acre field (outlined in purple) on the other side of the river will be planted in either soy beans or corn this year. This is awesome news because I'm surrounded by nothing but cattle farms! Destination food source anyone?

Got a couple cross brace pieces cut and mounted in place tonight along with an additional support brace at one of the seams. It really helped stiffen up the beams and stop the side to side swaying!! I will be adding additional braces at the remaining 3 seams, filling in the holes with concrete, and adding the decking and runners next weekend.

So I took the afternoon off to try to finish my bridge. This is how us habitat guys roll into the office. Got some weird looks pulling into the parking deck.

My dad brought his tractor to help carry supplies back and forth as well as dig some dirt to build up at the ends of the bridges.

We put a bunch of concrete underneath this freshly tamped dirt.

I've got a few more decking boards to attach on the ends and then add the runners along the length of the bridge to help disperse the weight a little better (the boards you see underneath). Almost done though!

My dad almost buried his tractor coming across a ditch on the way out. It's a good thing his tractor is small and I had the trusty old King Quad! Unfortunately I didn't get a pic but I was able to pull him out!

And last but not least...our new well has been drilled. All I need is for them to hook up the pump and we'll have water!!! Evidently the guy running the drill got stuck and they had to get a wrecker to pull him out. Left some good sized ruts in the yard so I'll have to have my dad grade it out for me.

Another eventful day at the property. I was about a mile away and I started feeling a slight vibration. I put the window down and I heard the terrible sound of metal on pavement!!! Good thing there is a Tractor Supply about 15 minutes away!!

Great job on the bridge.

I've ordered trees before from the Virginia DOF and always been happy with them. They are kind of small, but the price is reasonable.

Thanks Native! The price is definitely right for their seedlings.
