Persimmon Scions

I have an orchard of native persimmons on my farm in Mississippi that my grandfather and I planted in 2013, roughly 25 trees and I am adding about 10-15 more to fill the area out. Most of them are getting close to fruiting size. Luckily for me, the small food plot I chose to convert into this particular orchard has many native male persimmons around the edges, so I can convert all my planted trees to grafted females.

I am looking for persimmon scions to graft onto these native trees. I would like to have alot of variety in this orchard, especially a long drop period between all the trees. Several of you, dogdoc and Fish, and were nice enough to share some of their scions with me that I grafted in April (thanks again, guys), and for reasons that I absolutely cannot understand, I lost all 6 grafts. The trees resprouted around the failed graft and are thriving, so I plan to regraft those this spring, plus a few more.

If any of you has a unique persimmon (late drop, big fruit, heavy producer, etc) that you collect scions from and want to share, I would really love it if you would send me some wood. I am happy to pay for the scions and shipping. Just let me know.

Again this year, I’m looking for persimmon scions to graft. If any of you have any known varieties or unique varieties that you are willing to share scions from, I’d love to make them a part of the orchard my grandfather and I planted. Happy to swap scions if you need something I have or pay for them. PM me please if you’d like to share!

If you are in MS there’s a place in Raymond that sells a couple varieties of grafted female persimmon
