Oklahoma Archery Reports

Well, that's a real bummer...was it a string failure?
The metal arm/limb broke and the cam popped out which caused the other cam to pop out.

Well that sucks with your crossbow. I don't have much experience with different crossbows. I shoot an excalibur. Barnett has had their fair share of problems but hear they have excellent customer service. Good luck on getting it fixed.

I bet this cold front that moved in was worth a sit?! Anyone get out? I wanted to but couldn't get away.

I got out yesterday morning and evening. Surprised I didn't see anything moving in the morning. I got in my stand at 0630 last night for a quick hunt. Ended up being quick, shot a doe at 6:50.

Walking into work this morning I was thinking it was probably a great morning for hunting. Cloudy and cool.

Deer were definitely moving in our area this morning...of course I am not able to capitalize on it right now :(

I went yesterday evening and didn't see a thing! Early season on the small plot is normally pretty active, but maybe this year it's different

Well it looks like I am out of commission for at least 3 weeks. So much for excellent service from Barnett. I also had to pay to ship it back which was expensive due to its shape. I asked them to just ship me a replacement since it can't be fixed and they won't.

I've borrowed a friend's bow but he wants he back after this weekend. I'm just glad it didn't break when I was loading it or had my hands near the strings.

I went out Saturday AM with the muzzleloader. It finally felt like fall that morning with lows in the 80'same. Hunited the wetland where is seeded rye and winter wheat on the top and sides of the dike. Saw 9 does and a forked horn buck. Towards the end the little buck started chasing a doe around for about 10 min. Was hoping I was gonna see one of the cull bucks or one of the big ones but didn't happen.

I have been seeing more movement lately, even with the heat. Had a buck 5yds from my tree and he was looking right at me so I couldn't move my bow. Could've shot him on the neighbors property but didn't.

Heading to the family farm to deal with the thieves/poachers/a-holes. Was going to save that land for me and my wife during gun but I need to be back in the woods or other people will be.

Went this evening and hunted the south food plot. Wind was not an advantage at any stand but made the most of it. did not see a deer. hearing of movement but yet to see it

Wife hit a buck yesterday morning with an arrow from her Bowtech but got shoulder and little penetration. He was following a doe but she had no interest and she grunted him off of her. We lost the sparce blood trail after about 350 yards and we recovered the arrow.

Yesterday evening I decided not to hunt and the wife and I were watching a movie when she looked out the window and motioned me over. A good sized 9 point and a smaller buck were nosing a doe around our backyard and feeding. It's starting to cut loose in NE Oklahoma!

I had a good 3.5yo buck pushing doe around in stroud Saturday night. I was not able to grunt him off of them. - getting very interesting around here! I'm gonna hunt here in skiatook this week and see how things go.

About 1/2 mile down the road 2 big mature shooter bucks were squaring off on one another. a couple of does were nearby...definitely getting good - rain today and then all heck should break loose the rest of this week...I have 8 days of bowhunting starting tomorrow morning to try to capitalize on this activity!

Got in the woods 4-5 times the past week. Saw the same 2.5yo buck 3 times. Almost every hunt I had bucks, albeit young ones, scent checking does. I'd imagine pretty soon, the first hot doe will emerge and bucks will really start traveling. Too bad I'm out of vacation days .

I have seen a couple of does that were in. They even urinated in the scrapes. Big bucks are starting to lock down with these does. Young bucks running everywhere right now.

4 days ago big bucks were seeking...

Grunted in several bucks, all young except for a wall hanger I took a shot at, hit the one tree branch I could hit.

Had several does still with fawns this morning with young bucks running them all over the field.

I feel like with the short lived High Pressure system rolling in starting tomorrow morning through the weekend that we should have great hunting. Recommended to stay on stand as long as possible because my trail cams are still showing mature deer moving in that 1:00 range right now...
