Ohio Farm Tours

What is odd it's just in a small area! I know I do have some groundhogs around so maybe that's the issue. It has been really dry so maybe they are wilting.

I know rain is supposed to come so maybe that'll give them a boost. Literally most of the plot looks great but an area or too looks almost like hogs rooting. I have a camera up and haven't noticed anything. Other than coons, deer, gh, turkey. Maybe coons digging to dig up rye grain I overseeded into plot?

I had a plot last year that looked awesome when I first planted it. It was the LC grain mix, and germination was perfect with good rain. But it just never took off like I hoped, and before long it was pretty much bare dirt (it's about .8 acre in size). There were a million deer tracks in the field, so I blamed them. Well, there were deer in the field, but cameras showed there were also 10 or so turkeys coming through the plot 3-4 times a day and just scratching the hell out of it. I think if it looks nipped down to nothing, deer did it. If it looks like it's been tilled, turkeys did it (or hogs).

I would have a hard time working if I had deer at my house:D Your plots look good, just finished getting mine planted this weekend.

I do skip out back from time to time. Honest to god watched a 145 9 pushing does on cmas eve last year. I was supposed to be at my cousins house. I was in dress clothes holding my bow decided if I could sneak out back and stick him Hahahaha!

Had a quick trip to the farm this past week. Boy it just seems like hunting season came fast this year. I will be in Vegas for opening day but I will be hunting very soon everyone!

Still amazed at the growth with Eagle beans. They are still green, still growing, loaded with pods (25 on this one plant), would be over 6ft tall if the deer didn't browse them! Where deer bite them, they grow another leaf, unreal!

Doesn't it seem like the bucks that have the most potential just keep on moving past the camera!! Darn! I hope this one stops and gives me a better look on the next pull.

Pretty good results with the Eagles, Buck. Bet they work good for attraction at least thru early season. I can't get these guys to get their corn down and my buck pics are slim at the moment. Guess the dry weather has the farmers holding out harvest for a little more growth. Season starts here Sat, but with 80 deg, think I'll wait a week or 3. Good luck.

Brassica crop circles :D.
Plot behind your house says a lot about what youre doing right. Nice job!

yea bud, I think I will probably not hunt for a bit. I might sneak out behind the house and sit just to clear my head. I am fairly confident the beans will hold deer more in late season then early. I have a few acres of them and they are at least knee high. If the beans don't shatter, I should have a lot of browse of them late.

I also overseeded with rye/brassicas. That should do the trick!

HAHA I think it was a damn turkey! SOB! hahaha

Ya plot behind house is really looking good. Deer are not into it much yet. I actually just hung a stand on a small oak ridge behind house. I think that is where the deer will be early season! I hung a camera and will check it soon.

If you have acorns and they are falling that is where the deer will be...I am noticing a big swing on our place in just the last few days with acorns beginning to drop...

Well not a lot going on between the farms. I hunted once so far this season. I saw a couple does and small bucks. I am going to try more this weekend. I did check cameras and I finally have a buck worth chasing. Now I am getting excited!
