"Friends with Green Spaces" (My apologies to Garth Brooks) Blame it all on LC He let out a plea About growing plots with a flair They last all year long They do you no wrong And alas The deer will be there Well I saw the surprise And the joy in their eyes When they tried the LC mix So I toasted him Said, "gotta get this on film" It's better than Tiffany flicks 'Cause, I've got friends with green spaces Where the deer herd eats And mama doe chases the bucks away But I'll be okay I'm not big on year round places But these folks have quite an oasis Oh, I've got friends with green spaces Well, I guess I've been wrong Plantin' just oats so long But then, it has worked over time Everything's all sweet I'll just add some wheat And fertilize this plot of mine Hey, I didn't mean To cause a big scene Just give me some clover and bean Well, I'll throw and mow And before you know Best plot ever seen 'Cause, I've got friends with green spaces Where the deer herd eats And mama doe chases the bucks away But I'll be okay I'm not big on year round places But LC folks have quite an oasis Oh, I've got friends with green spaces
Paul was a very "deer" friend of ours. During the few years we knew him we got to get together on several occasions...those were some of my favorite days in the deer world. He was everything that people say and more. A funny guy in his own awkward way, always a gentleman and true friend. A man of conviction, compassion and especially in the end, a man of courage. I thought for sure, at some point, he would get tired of answering my thousands of questions on switchgrass, then there were the thousands of questions on herbicides, and at least a thousand more on installing an electric fence, then if I didn't think of a question, my husband would. But, no matter how busy he may of been, he would always take the time to ease the worries of any mistakes we may have made. He told me at one time...I held the record for questions asked, I'm very proud of that achievement! Because I know how many questions he received daily...
