No more QDMA

Trying to put the two together so they can use the QDMA contact list and donations to fund the NDA political agenda is what they are doing.... They figure if they can push the political agenda to favor more hunting opportunities that only further supports their corporate sponsorships. It's not about the hunters. It's about the hunters MONEY! Just remember your state wildlife agency is in NO way required to consult with QDMA/NDA or any other organization regarding policies.... If they are not invited to the table...to be part of the discussion....all these organizations can do is make noise outside the window!

Most of these "outdoor groups" and other "charitys" are all about one thing: Making themselves lots of money.

Many Years ago I read an article about just how much money the Top Level people make in these groups. It's an amazing amount of money.

Very Very Little of your "donation" actually goes to what you think it does, 90-98% of it goes to "administration fees".

I read this OL article about the merger: "Despite free membership in NDA—joining requires only an active email address to receive weekly updates and calls to action on issues related to deer management—growth has been slow, says Nick Pinizzotto, the president and CEO" also: "two recent changes accelerated the merger discussions. One was the retirement of QDMA’s longtime CEO, Brian Murphy, and the other was the collapse of QDMA’s fundraising machinery. With chapter banquets unable to be held due to COVID-19 restrictions, the organization’s finances were put under additional stress. Pinizzotto says that the reconstituted organization will reconsider how it raises and spends money" and: "what’s less clear is how the NDA, as part of the QDMA merger, will continue to advocate for all deer species"

To paraphrase what Andrew McKean is saying here; An organization with limited success in the past is joining with an organization that lacks leadership, without a clear mission statement, but with an intent to raise lots of nonprofit money.
I do think "The National Deer Association" deserves a fair chance to prove what they're really all about, and I don't want to down these people before they even get started, however, I want to see them actually accomplish something good for deer before I will be on board in a big way.

I had the opportunity to spend a few days with Dr.Dave Guynn and his wife recently grouse and woodcock hunting in Mn. Beautiful man and I enjoyed our time together immensely .Wealth of knowledge and experience with a deep caring demeanor . Not sure what influence he has on the merged organizations, but my impression is his contribution would be valuable though he struck me as having zero interest in the politics of it all.. I did share with him some of the discontent expressed by many on here and elsewhere as well as my own issues.

I needed a good laugh today. Thanks.
Interesting that the history list of the QDMA on that website didn't list the royal dry F they gave its most loyal members several years back!! Probably an oversite on their part I'm sure!! LOL
And suddenly despite years of loss of local chapters and their disinterest and dissatisfaction in the org which resulted in failed fundraisers , they going claim its caused suddenly by the 2020 drama . Its Not the friggin Covid shutdown.
As always, if I need any info on deer and their herd and land management, I'll consult the outstanding knowledge of you guys. Now that...I would be willing to pay for the results, not some membership in self appointed gurus concentrating on limited areas of the country . Thank you.

Thanks Massey. Maybe it can come out of retirement next year. Time to show some fugly multicultural plots to counteract the glossy mag photos of said org we been talking about. And trust me, with almost no manipulation this year, they are the epitome of letting nature take control. No mag covers for me. Five year old Clover foot deep, brassica reseeded itself along with self reseeding of the wheat. And plenty of "weeds" and grasses. Except for lime, they have been on their own this year except for mowing. The deer in the fields this evening didn't seem to mind. If I get any lazier the QDM powers will come take my farm away!!! I still sleep well.
