Tap, I thought I should retract that statement moments after I hit enter. No offense meant to anyone. Just being playful and the expense of those in the great state of Pennsylvania.
Oh I took absolutely no offense. Actually, I wish more people would take your advice then maybe there wouldn't be a hunter on every ~10 acres.

That's a sure way to get fined in Pa. My buddy's FIL got a $150 fine just for screwing in one single bow hanger beside his ladder stand. Sawing or pruning branches isn't permitted on Pa Game Lands.

Same in Wisconsin can't cause and damage to trees on public land. I'm almost thinking that for this 1st season I might just use fallen lumber to make a ground blind in a few places of the summer and then have them available to me in the fall. Or try and figure out a saddle.

Ok, My bad. This what I do on private land. Yeah,, that's it. So if in Illinois they will fine you for taking off a pinky sized tree limb 15 ft off the ground then don't do it.;)
Oh, and no matter what, don't ever hunt in PA. :p
Pennsylvania is a nice place to live. We've got a nice climate, not too hot, not too cold, good rainfall most of the time, a nice balance of flora and fauna. About the only thing that we have more than we need is inept politicians and Game Commission personnel, would you like to take a few off our hands?

I’m looking to get a range finder before summer so I can setup and practice around my yard, does anyone have any recommendations?

I used to have a bushnell but it wouldn’t range thru netting. Switched to Leupold but two of them were consistently two yards off at 30. Went to Nikon and totally satisfied.
