Lawn mower opinions?

Zero turn is the way to go for me but there were two drawbacks. Needing two hands to steer was cumbersome around low hanging limbs. Having a hand free without the risk of going off course to keep limbs out of my face would be nice (a free hand would be nice for holding a drink too).
When I need to go under low hanging limbs, I flip up the levers so I can bend forward at the waist wile still sitting. Probably gains me almost 2 feet of clearance.

Skag Cheetah here...35 hp Kohler. Heck of a mower. In addition to mowing grass, I use it for what might be considered light-duty brush hogging. It's hard to beat a zero-turn for mowing grass.

I drive mine on car ramps and lay under it to change blades everytime I mow, definitely a pain but still not to bad imo
That's what I do, too. Changing and sharpening blades isn't my favorite thing to do...I never know how anal to be about balancing them.

Personally never worry at all about balancing them, take my grinder to them then use a hand file to clean up the edge and call it good, I have two sets so that ones always sharp, change them everytime I mow and get two new sets every other year basically.

You change blades every time you mow?? Holy cow, I change mine twice a year, and my blades take a beating. My yard is hickory and Black Walnut trees...thousands of hard nut shells at times. I'm mowing more than just grass.

I mow pretty rough stuff and around 8-10 acres each time, that includes lawn and country road ditches plus around the field edges, probably overkill but they are always dull.

I'm with Tap. Never heard of someone sharping blades that often....

Looked at Scag, Ferris, JD, Kubota, Country Clipper, and some others. I was most impressed with Scag as they have the build down pat and their dealership guys know what they are doing! But they are well over an our from my house and $600 more for a base 48". Went with a Hustler Raptor SD 60". It was $600 cheaper than anyone else's 48" mowers and there is a dealership 20 minutes from my house. If prices had been closer I would have went with the Scag or Ferris but it really was no contest once price and drive time were figured in. Plus it's probably more mower than I will ever need.

My yard usually takes about 3 hours to mow. Last night the wife and kids all took turns playing on the new mower and then I mowed the yard... the meter reads .9hrs. Easily cut mowing time down by a third! This thing is awesome.

Something I didn't think about with the larger deck is that it sticks out a ways from the tires. Makes getting close to things much easier without the worry of rubbing tires during the turn.

Where’s the cold brew?
Bottom center of bottom pic. There is a cup holder there and it did fine holding my drink, but I'm not going to lie it's hard to hold a drink and drive this thing at the same time. :( I managed but since I have so many turns in my yard it's difficult to find a straight long enough to steer with one hand. I figure that since this mower cut my mow time down to 1/3 what it was... I can either drink 3 times faster or take 3 times as many breaks. One thing is certain; I'll figure it out!

What engine?

Mine is a Hustler SD 60 with the Kawasaki engine...great machine...
It's a Briggs V-twin (professional). That was the only thing I was apprehensive about. Don't anything about the newer Briggs engines. I've heard great things about the Kawasaki though. Went with the SD as they are a little more serviceable... I like to maintenance my stuff. I don't care for machines without fluid level checks and grease zerts.

Any update on the Hustler now that you've had it a bit?
