Google Earth Pro has not updated my area since November 2014.
Where can I go for the latest satellite view?
 
If you are willing to spend some money, you could find someone to fly over and take pictures. That will give you a way better image quality and you could print it out or make it a dry erase board or whatever you wanted. Other than that, most states fly imagery with planes Avery few years, you could reach out and try to get that, but that will also cost you. If you dont care about being able to draw over top of it, Sometimes different weather apps will have more up to date imagery for your area. I know that our local NBC weather app has 2018 imagery, whereas google earth has 2015.

That was the best part of my recent survey. A quad copter overflight was part of the deal! The shaded relief of google earth is nice though. My counties GIS map is more recent than google earth. The most recent google earth imagery in our area is late 2013.
 
Our area (not necessarily Google) got updated for Hurricane Michael so we all could do damage assessment from afar. Soon after, Google Earth and Google Maps was showing post-hurricane imagery too.
 
I work for a branch of the federal government responsible for the acquisition of aerial imagery. Other sources are many and would include multiple federal, state, and local governments. So far as I know, Google does no acquisition. They simply take what's in the public domain and aggregate it into one platform - Google Earth. Several years ago Google said they were no longer going to actively maintain Google Earth. Who knows. They seem to do what they want whenever they want. Its a great resource, but the longer we go, the more you will probably need to create your own destiny.

But, don't spend money to get someone to drone your property! It's all out there free for the taking....if you know where to look.

First, take a look at ArcGIS Earth. You can download it for free. It will take a little time to understand it, but it took time to understand Google Earth. The time will be well spent.

Thanks for the link X-farmerdan. I've seen that layer at our place on onx. It's at least 4 years old on our land in Western NC. I do like Google earth and other imagery sources, especially on a tool like google earth that offers 3D viewing. That's an especially useful tool in the mountains. However, it doesn't come close to the imagery quality of a quad copter overflight. I can see 5 gallon Lowes buckets that indicate apple tree plantings on our survey imagery.
