Hello I'm from North Georgia. My best year ever this season. First year I was able to tag out on bucks. Looking forward to learning and reading a lot on this forum.

Welcome Buck Roar to this forum.

Congrats on a successful season. How many bucks does GA allow you to harvest? I lived in Waycross GA from 1976 to 79.

I killed one buck with a hunting club on the Suwanee Canal. Only time I have ever seen hounds used to hunt deer. Swamp hunting is different.

Hope you enjoy your time with us.

    Hello all,

Long time lurker over at the QDMA forums, read and saved ideas and whatnot, waiting for that day when I finally had my own place to work on. A few months after QDMA met its demise I found this place and noticed that many names looked vaguely familiar!

I'm Missouri born and raised, turning 30 this year, married for 8 years this year to my high school sweetheart, and have two little girls now, and hopefully we add a few more kids to the brood before we're done (maybe one with the Y chromosome).

I've been hunting since I was a wee lad, but lost interest during high school to the video games, basketball, and girl. I returned to my senses after getting married, moving out of my parents' house and finally noticing how much red meat cost...
I grew up on land, so after languishing for 7 years in Kansas City, we bailed out during the recent housing boom, and moved north to 20 acres and a 100 year old farm house in Daviess County, MO back in August of 2017. I finally have the house relatively shipshape, so I get to start on some property work now, which hopefully I get to posting about soon.

First, congrats on your family, and getting out of the city. I'm a long time country dweller myself, and will never live in town as long as I'm able to decide for myself.

Next, welcome to the forum, you're gonna find some like minded folks here and the best part is: They're almost always the most agreeable, helpful, non-judgmental and polite group I've ever seen on a public forum.

    Hello,

I'm from Southeastern Wisconsin and hoping to get out hunting for the first time this year. I'm planning on starting with whitetail and will look at maybe some small game as well. I'm going to be attempting this on my own as nobody in my family hunts. I'm trying to narrow down what bow and rifle I want so I can shoot some paper prior to this fall. I'm sure I will have lots of newbie questions and I want to say thanks in advance to anyone that is will to give a helping hand.

Well, one thing that we can always use is another hunter ! Welcome to the forum and welcome to the world of hunting !

Tell us where and how you intend to hunt, (in a general sense), ask all the questions you want, somebody here will have the answers. Good luck !

    Hey guys,

lots of helpful information here on these forums. I'm from NW Arkansas, a small business owner, married with three daughters. I own with my wife's family 520 acres of fairly rugged mountain land. About 120 acres is old pasture -- and I'm not planning on being in the cattle business, but I have lots of opportunities for food plots. I've been accumulating the necessary equipment to work the land, and am now in a position to put in lots of hours improving the habitat. I'll be asking lots of questions and am looking forward to the responses.

    Scott

Welcome Scott. I'm in SW Missouri so we're practically neighbors. Read up on the throw N mow methods here. It has worked very well for my rugged mountain land so far, keeps costs and labor down, and feeds the critters throughout the year. All of this matters when you have three girls I suppose.
By the way I have three boys so our families should never meet! ;)
Lots and lots of knowledge here. please keep us posted on your progress.

    Jeff

    Greetings from the Trans-Bluegrass!

I am an acorn farmer from SW Bracken County, KY. Folks generally don't understand acorn farming. It's a tough job. We make it easier by letting the deer and turkey hoover up the acorns first and then call our family and friends together to harvest the deer and turkey. As you know, they can be processed into a tasty high-protein snack.

I maintain a weblog of my experiences. Genesis 9:2-4 Ministries is well into its 14 year.

Hey guys - wanted to introduce myself and say that I'm looking forward to reading more of your awesome stories and info and sharing some of mine. My name is Jeremy. My family lives in central Minnesota on a small 40 acre hobby farm that we enjoy hunting on. We have a few critters and a hay field as well as about half the property is wooded. My daily grind is working in the firearms industry and my two biggest passions are hunting and competitive barbeque. I'm quite excited to soak up all your collective knowledge and use it to improve the habitat around me. Thanks!

Welcome Doc, I look forward to your input, and someone that's knowledgeable in firearms is interesting to have around. Are you in gun manufacturing, sales, repair or otherwise?

I work in gun sales at the distribution level. So I usually have a pretty good beat on what’s going on at manufacturing and at retail. Thanks!
