Indiana Jones needs your help in Florida

I've had my share of snake experiences and would like to think the good Lord will send me no more. I've had them in my truck, in my boat (while I was in it) wrapped around my leg (wading), hiss at, rattled at, struck at..and hit. But I've never tangled with one of those monstrous pythons and don't want it on my list. I'm DONE or would like to be. ;)

I duck hunt and fish all over Lake Okeechobee and the glades in the winter. Run across many a moccasin, but yet to run across a python. I've heard of them around town there, though.

While crappie fishing Sardis Lake in Ms. years ago we headed up a backwater slough. Our boat was small and so was the slough. there was only about 5 ft of water on each side of the boat. There was no turning around. Paul was in front I had the motor. We got to a spot where there was a bend to the right. Straight ahead lying just out of the water was the biggest moccasin I've ever seen. She had 5 or 6 males slithering all over her. we cruised by at about 4 ft away. I thought Paul was going to pee his britches. We never fished that slough again but the next time I went with Paul he had a sawed off .410 with him.

A friend of mine once bought a couple of cheap single barreled 20 gauge shotguns and gave one to me. I sawed the barrels off on each to 18.25” and I carried mine in my boat. It came in handy several times while river fishing.

Single shots are fine unless you need to reload. Moccasins at close quarters give me the shakes so bad I can't put a shell in the chamber;)
