I made a big mistake

Not bait just a video of the full hunt. It was 25 mins before sunrise and 12 deer came in all at once. It was still too dark to make out their bodies or antlers. After a few minutes they all started chasing and took off. It was very overwhelming as it was all happening. It wasn't until they were all gone and I watched the video back I then realized the big buck that was in the field. Also it was much darker then the camera shows.

I'm with G on this. I have had chances where light wasn't the best and I passed.....I had a doe parade a real nice buck past me several time...almost begging me to kill him. I just couldn't do it.....oh I wanted to....I just couldn't. I never saw the deer again, but I would rather have that happen than do something foolish like force a shot...hit the deer poorly and never find him. They say morals are what you do when you know others are not looking.....it may not have ended the way you wish, but it could have ended far worse. You made the right choice to NOT shoot.

Typically a short teaser type message and a link to a video on a first post is click bait...the entire premise of the video to me is that you are trying to get a certain amount of subscribers by a certain date and with an ad thrown in here and there to make sure whoever watches your video sees them...

Looks like you had a bunch of deer in the field and I am sure you will get another chance at him...

Having said that I have had several pre- shooting light encounters that I have passed on some real giants for our area. I have had deer I could barely make out come in and leave before I could make out antlers only to look at a trail cam later and see it was either the exact deer I was after or a new buck that I had never seen that was equally or more impressive. Had it happen twice this year...

The most exciting hunt I ever experienced involved poor (none) shooting light.

It was the Tuesday before thanksgiving many years ago and I was sitting in a stand that is rarely hunted. I was in the stand way before shooting light freezing my butt off. I heard a huge commotion in the woods not too far off, and I soon realized it was a very violent buck fight. The two bucks were going at it and sounded BIG. When the fighting stopped I grunted a couple of times. Sure enough one of the bucks charged right in! The only problem was...it was too dark to see! I could hear him running around my tree huffing and puffing but I couldn’t see him yet. Doh!

After a minute or two he left, so I tried to get him back by grunting again. This time the OTHER buck charged right in and I STILL couldn’t see! Not my finest moment. :)

Nothing a night vision scope or spot light wouldn't correct. I've sure some good ole boys around me could hook you up.;) And BTW, dark comes quicker with age.

I can understand how that looks going forward I'll post a story with it for those who don't care for videos. I don't have any ads on that video and I only like subscribers because I enjoy making videos for those can't hunt come along. Thank you for the feedback.

Now THERE’S some truth being spoken! I can’t believe how fast eyesight degrades with age. I’m thinking about mounting the lighted magnifying glass from my fly tying bench to my icefishing sled so I can retie when I break off!

Getting older sucks, no bones about it. I hate having to open my shelter to retie, but magnifying glass or no, there's no way that I'm threading the hole without sunlight or poke and pray...

I had that happen last year. Right at good light there were multiple deer in my plot. Two nice looking bucks walked out within 50 yards but I couldn't see well enough to age them, so I had to let them walk off. I hate it happened that way, but I don't regret my choice.

I completely agree that sight does go down hill with age. I also agree with person who said that a good pair of night vision will help. I found min at huntingscopespro.com about two months ago. Does any one have any thoughts on monocular vs binoculars when it comes to night vision?
