How many plan to walk away from QDMA?

I know someone that called and talked to Lindsey and he said that they dropped the forum because the other methods of social media was climbing in use and the forum was declining seems funny since facebook or twitter is nothing like the forum

Well I agree that the forum method is declining in popularity in today's time but the stuff we talk about on the forum just won't work on a Facebook or Twitter page. Ridiculous!! Oh well.... Found a new home on here and on habitat talk.....

I disagree strongly with this assessment. Social media has pulled eyeballs in many different directions, but the future of very distinct, value-added niches is assuredly not Facebook or Twitter.

If management ever looked at the forum they would have seen this.

Doesn't sound like a resource in decline to me.

The forum is what got me to join ,, now im done with them and would like to thank everyone for sticking together and joining in on the forum .I look forward to helping this forum grow

I was one of those early Hunting.Net members, and grew tired of the numbers of posters that would show up for a couple posts - and disappear - and the infighting and ignorance that would occur there. Eventually - the Food Plot section on that site became a ghost town. Food plot and habitat improvement was mostly what I was interested in. I had also became a member of the QDMA forum early on - but never joined the organization, not because I didn't practice QDM, but because not everyone I hunted with did. It was difficult to share my hunting experiences there without criticism from some. I knew Paul as Doubletree on another site, and remember when he came here, and pretty much I did as well at that time as well.

I wasn't ever a member -
Like a lot of you, I'm not done with QDM myself. I see a lot of benefit hunting an older deer herd, and I'll continue to lead by example with others that have joined me in my area.

I am going to put my 35.00 dollars towards future tree plantings. Even though I only really utilized the forums, I did enjoy quality whitetails magazine. I know my truck does't look the same now without the Qdma decal in the back window...

I knew of QDMA but never checked into it until a couple of months ago a local guy had posted on facebook he was having a QDMA field day on his property. I attended it that day and those 2 guys filled my head with ideas, so that week I checked their website and found the forum and I have been reading it ever since. I was going to join just because of all the info on the forum, but they shut it down before I could and I will not be joining now. I'm glad you guys got most of the people on here now. I'm getting ready to start my throw and mow in action this fall and I'm on the mailing list for chestnut's from wbpdeer. I'll try to get some of my own post going as I do projects this fall. Good luck to everyone this season!

I've been a member for over ten years. I helped start my local branch, of which I am now the president. I formerly held the treasurers position on two different occasions. We've raised in excess of $100,000 in fundraisers for QDMA. We've had youth hunts in the QDMA name. We've worked outdoor shows and grown the membership and put the word out about QDMA. Every dollar we sent in was supposed to have a percentage set aside for a "State Chapter". Those monies (State Chapter) were never made available to us even though we requested it year after year.

QDMA never once supported our Facebook page. They never commented or supported any of us when we posted on the forum about having an event, a youth hunt, chartering a new branch, nothing. They barely supported our branch with the exception of one great RD, Kevin Graves.

When some unknown came onto the forum bad mouthing a vendor about some SweetTea seed that they had purchased, Lindsay and Banc immediately defended the seller. When i called them out on it, they deleted the threads. They never once said anything about anything the branches had done or accomplished.

That's where QDMA has left me.........

What is going to be your new excuse to see me once a year??? hahaha

The forum is what got me to join QDMA, They have surely put a bad taste in my mouth for what they have done. I am done with them!!

I am a LIFE member of the QDMA and have been for 24 years. I sent them an email to the effect that they have my money so I will still be a life member. I will NOT promote them or urge others to join them as I have done in the past. They can send me their crappy magazine as I have paid for it. I might read it in the bathroom. QDMA left a bad taste in my mouth by closing the forum. I told them that they will reap what they sow. I did get an email response back from both Murphy and Thomas, for what that was worth.

I do completely understand how everyone feels but like I have stated before I have learned so much from the forums and will always have a fond memories of not only the forum but all the friends that I have made on the forum. I did not agree with their decision but I wasn't involved in any way with the decision--I was only informed a week or so prior to the announcement. I was very saddened with Lindsay informed me. To be honest after talking with Lindsay he was saddened by the closing also. It was a group decision by the people at QDMA--not a one person decision. I have no idea what the vote was or how anyone voted/decided to close the forum.

What I do know is that I am so happy that we got this forum up and running and in just a little over a week we have over 400 active members--and still growing.
