How is Covid 19 affecting your livelihood?

It's time to open PA.
I'm not much for conspiracies and protests. But the fact is that construction is not a dangerous germ spreading activity, there's more social distancing on a normal construction site than in Walmart under COVID19 rules. For PA to close construction when most states and the federal government recommends keeping it open reeks of spiteful politics.

Hawaii (with almost no new cases) just pushed their stay home order until May 31st. We have it a little better than some places with physical activities allowed (jogging, hiking, surfing etc) but still a little ridiculous. Luckily we can hunt and fish!

I’m amazed how many sheep are begging to continue the lockdown until there is a cure or vaccine.

We've started loosening some. Elective surgery is now allowed since the 2/3s empty hospitals are losing their shirts and employees sitting at home. So you can't get a tooth fixed but you can have a boob job or get your dogs nails clipped. LOL. I expect we will be open for business May 4. Stores have limited number allowed in and a lot wear masks around others. Even myself, to protect others, but they aren't common. Bunch of state road work getting done. I got my office road repaved this wk after begging the state for 20 yrs to do so. Entire road thru town has been stripped of asphalt and new surface being laid at night. Stopped by bridge construction on my fishing trip yesterday 2 diff times. I'm going back to work next wk regardless. Screw them, at my age ,shut me down and I'll just quit. Nothing to lose. Their loss in a chunk of tax revenue from business and employees. Have my airlines tickets ready for my August Cali trip. Time for life to move on.

NY is finally opening up elective surgery. As was stated these hospitals are going under without income. And they’ve found unbelievably , that they don’t need the space for COVID. beds. There are a couple hot spots that they won’t let them.
Antibody testing completed for the week and the estimate from those is that 2.7 million in NY already had the virus. Death rate estimated at .5%. They will continue with hundreds of thousands in the coming weeks. Apparently they will use this info to open the State up. Unbelievably the Governor is now stating they will open up regionally. Good news as the whole issue is NYC and surrounding area.

Not to stereotype a certain group of people, and this is sad, but we're starting to find that there's a lot of couch potato type people dying from COVID19. A 30 yr old from our neighboring county passed away 2 days after showing symptoms, overweight, asthmatic and diabetic. The human body is designed to be very active, no part of us functions well just sitting around. Get out of the house and go hunting or fishing, plant some trees, grow vegetables, go hiking, go walking, fix a car, fly a kite, or just dig a hole in the yard and fill it in again, but everyone needs to be doing something to stay fit.

Ever notice that same crowd goes bat-shit crazy anytime there’s talk of a federal government shutdown?? This country is on borrowed time.

Not really, the social and economic dynamics of those most concerned about COVID-19 is all over the map. Educated people want the country opened up tomorrow and educated people want everything shut down until someone?? tells them it's safe. Same thing on the other end of the spectrum. Less educated blue collar country folk want the country opened tomorrow and plenty from that same dynamic are scared to death. It's really mind blowing to me.

In my humble opinion the reason for the disparity is the media, almost 100% the media. The media hate the current administration and have gone completely nuts politicizing this entire issue. At one point I thought there really were "critically thinking" liberals, they self identify as educated critical thinkers...right? Now it seems everyone with a liberal bone in their body has done a keg stand with the "koolaid". The ease of social media and broadcasting the "news" makes the issue that much worse. It's almost impossible for the average American to confirm something they read as true or complete BS.

I simply do nt do the news other than local. It’s biased and fake no matter the network liberal or conservative. And I certainly don’t believe what is posted on social media regardless of the persons beliefs.
I get my info from guys like on this site and others. Think about it. I’ve got a guys running a dozer , barn builders , vets, investment gurus , mechanics ,IT guys, full time farmers, business owners , retirees, habitat managers , car restorers , career armed service people , rambling mountain men ,etc. God bless America. In a few moments I can find out anything I need about this country from both sides of story. And these are real people w real lives. Why the hell would I want to listen to self proclaimed know it alls who most couldn’t hold a real job delivering papers??
BTW , thanks for the morning read as usual.

The media and the liberal ruling class is kinda who I am alluding to. The media is indeed the enemy of the People. The electronic media is the modern Gestapo.

I agree. Just reading the local news comments from social media and it’s amazing the number of people out there that fully believe if you get this virus you will die. Period. They’re getting this from where? The news media.
Meanwhile back here in the epicenter the new estimates on the death rate is .5%. And I bet that goes down with time.

I have friends on Facebook that are wigging out because we go partial reopen here today and almost full reopen on May 1st. Hairdressers and barbers preparing for reopen have actually been threatened! Folks in mask and rubber gloves the new antifa! I worked in healthcare for many, many years and my wife is in Hospital Admin and it is true that deaths from any source are listed as Covid greatly increasing the numbers reported. A drug addict od’d a few days back and the ME automatically put Covid as cause of death. I actually want to go ahead and get it so I can have somewhat of an immunity later on. I at one time was washing my cash but now I have gotten to the point of “Bring it”...I am good with the Lord and living in fear is no life...

You would think re-opening would be seen as GOOD news and cheered by the media, but nooooo.... Should tell you all you need to know. Plus the fact that Kalifornia fines business owners that are losing everything, then gives it to illegals because they have no future in Mexico.

Okie, I actually believe I’ve already had it. Not everyone gets the “symptoms “ as first advertised by the “experts”. I watched Trump talk to several folks who had tested positive and heard them describing their symptoms. One guy exactly mirrored my symptoms from one week in late February or early March. It just felt like the worst cold I ever had. About three or four days in I remembered I had some Zicam and used it twice a day. In two days I felt as good as a 73 year old guy ever feels. (Didn’t help my shoulders or knees one damn bit though):D
