House and Habitat build thread:

Dude!!! I can't even tell you how impressed (and jealous) I am of your fleet! You have been very successful in collecting some of the coolest vehicles ever made. Props to ya and thanks for sharing.

Lol, I didn't even realize we were close to the same age until you posted how long you've had your first car. Got me thinking about how long I've had mine and it matched up. I bet it's a good thing we didn't live near each other in high school as it would have been sure to be trouble on the streets.

Thank you. Don’t tell me your birthday is in March. I bought my dart for $400 when I was 13. Old story. Bought off of the little old lady right down the road. I laugh when I tell my wife that except other than my mom that car has been with me longer than any woman. Lol

March 27th to be exact.

My 58 was bought for $75 out of a field in Oklahoma. I drove it for a while with a 5 gallon bucket as the driver's seat. Wife and I went on our first date in it, and left our wedding in it. On a side note; I'm a runner and have ran every day for almost 23yrs. I call it "the streak" and it started before the wife and I met. She says she should have seen the signs that I was crazy when were coming home from a date and I made her stop at 11:45pm so that I could run a mile down the highway (with her following me) before midnight. I guess I have two things that have been around longer than any woman.

Omg. Mine is March 28. Too funny. I quit racing dirt bikes 6 years ago and my fitness program apparently ended then too. If you see me running look behind me because something bad must be chasing me

Did some work on the house build. Put some "mood" lighting in the basement. It's all on a dimmer switch and leaves the center of the room dark. Worked out well how it lights the stuff on the walls but leaves the center of the room dark.

I had an opportunity to take some lightning pics tonight (no rain though). I love sitting on the deck to watch a storm!

Love the lightning pics and I've seen where you posted some before. How in the world do you capture those?

Thanks. It's really easy and I use my phone to do it. I sit on the deck and film (video) the storm. Afterwards I watch the video, when lightening strikes I pause it and do a screen shot. I can slow motion my video player to "frame by frame" so it's easy to catch the strike. I normally don't need to film for more than a couple of minutes to get enough strikes for a few good pics. I'm sure you could do this with any smartphone or tablet.

Yep, lots of deer running around this yr and it's been a great August weather wise.

Place looks amazing as always! The young looking 12-13 pt could end up being something special! He looks like he would be tough to let walk now, at least for me. Did you find many chanterelles this summer? With the drought we had there were very few around me.
Thanks
Scott

Thanks. The young one has 7 on one side. He will look a lot smaller when the velvet falls off and shouldn't be to hard to pass up. Still... I hope he gets broke up some so nobody else is tempted.

Just found my first chants this weekend. Nothing over the summer when I usually find them.

Do you find them in similar spots as morels? I have never actively sought chanterelles. I’ll have to keep my eyes open.

Nope, not even close to where I find morels. I find chants in relation to oaks (never growing on wood, but growing out of the dirt near oaks). For whatever reason they seem to grow near younger oaks and not the huge one's in the center of the forest. They are fun to find but be prepared for ticks, poison ivy, and spider webs.

Good dump as usual Cat. I found first Chants this weekend also. Was surprised they have been so late till I saw your post. Been wet here, so maybe the reason. Good luck on the bucks, nice.

After I didn't find any through July I figured there weren't going to be any this yr. Glad they finally popped up but I bet they are drying out quickly. Been awfully windy the lat couple of days.
