House and Habitat build thread:

What chemical are you using on the locust? Fairly cheap?

I've always wanted to try Che trees, especially since they can supposedly be grafted to osage orange. There's a million candidates in my pasture-lol. Did you buy them locally?

We are about to get hammered by a storm! It's pretty ominous sounding and producing some crazy cool clouds and lighting.

Here's a pic of the brand and name. I posted a pic of the active ingredients above. $35 per gallon. I mix 5 to 9 once per gallon on the trees and thistles.

I ordered the Che trees online. Not sure they will ever make much fruit but if I can get them established enough for deer to browse them they will be a hit. One of the main reasons I went with Che was due to their ability to be grafted to hedge (I have ample of them!).

Keep an eye out it's should go east and north of you.Town aways north got hit tonight. You can come over and spray some locust if you run out
It just might slide by, but it sure is close now. Giving me a good show! A couple more look like they are building behind it.

I was just discussing my plans for locust with the wife earlier this evening. It's a 2 part plan; first I need to kill all the trees that are seed producers (older ones), then I'm just going to make ever widening circles out from the house to spray the little ones. Unfortunately I don't think my circles are going to end up reaching your place. :)

Those clouds look like spray foam under the floor of a new cabin.
Yes, yes they do! :) In fact I kind of remember seeing pics of a guy's cabin who had it foamed. Some crazy cat guy who likes to experiment with odd seeds in his plots. Anyhow, it was a damn cool cabin!

Thanks for the chemical name. That's a lot cheaper than Pastureguard, although I need to find the Gordons for your price. Called the county, but they don't carry it.
Now you've got me excited about Che's again. Maybe a project for next spring.

I buy it at a farm store called Orchelins.
I hope my Che that got browsed survive... and that I learn to graft them.

I love this time of yr! Things are growing like crazy, but it's only a short time before it all drys up.
Flower plot is throwing out a lot of color!

Sunflowers, millet, and sorghum mix are starting to shoot up. The Austrian Winter Peas are long gone. Haven't seen sign of them for quite some time.

Millet doesn't do a lot for deer but birds like it and I love it's look in a plot.

Sunflowers aren't far from blooming. Deer love to eat the blooms at this stage so we'll see how many flowers make it to opening stage!

The experimental "floury corn" plot is doing fantastic as well. I've never attempted corn before so this is all new to me. I'm liking it so far!

I love the green and blooms this time of year. I also love those items like okra and crepe myrtle that say. "I will bloom no matter how hot it gets"

Looks like somebody had a good time kick'n up some dust!

Last time I planted any volume of sunflowers the local drug searching helicopter nearly landed at my place. Had the same thing where I accidentally released some giant ragweed once as well.

My daughter loves sunflowers so we planted some up at the house for here this spring.....they are the really tall ones so we got some time yet.

Always some fun to have with kids and cars!

My Che (that got de-caged) are fighting to survive. Hope they have enough stores in their roots to survive the summer!

I had a 7 foot chestnut tree that got de-caged and reduced to a 2 foot tattered stick that survived and is fighting back so hopefully your Che will recover as well. I had to look up what Che even was.....

I don't know if I (or anything else) will like the Che fruit, but deer love the leafs and it can be grafted to hedge trees. If I can find something to turn a hedge tree into then all the better... even though I love hedge it would be nice to have an edible fruit from it.
