Burr's are doing great! This is a tree that I "released" last yr. It only produced around 6 acorns last fall. It is heavy with them this yr.

My sunflowers are just about dried up, not much seed left as the birds have been hammering them. They are starting to move to the millet as it starts to ripen. The wife says the newly formed berry's look like ticks... I think they look like dove and quail in the bag. I think it's neat that the seed forms on the south (sunny) side first.

Dolgo crab that tried to produce on its second summer on the place. I pulled all but 4 fruits off of it so that it would spend more energy growing vegetation as a youngster. I hope this is a good sign for it to produce well in the next couple of yrs.

I'm very excited about this one! It's a Tigertooth jujube that I planted this spring. I didn't think I would see a fruit on it for 3-4 yrs, but when checking things out this afternoon I found one. I doubt it makes it to ripeness but I sure am glad to see it.
The tree is already sending out suckers from root. It won't be long before I'm propagating this thing all over the place.

This is an experiment I did with white clover this yr. I did a small section or it with throw and mow on the outskirts of the yard to see if it would handle regular mowings. It got mowed about once a week this yr and handled like a champ. In fact, some of the nicest grass in the whole yard is in the clover patch. I think I will fall seed the whole yard in it towards the end of Sept.

It's been a great season! Somehow all the rain that seems to miss all of my neighbors has went over us. And at the same time the large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes have missed us. I need to knock on wood. I have a feeling that I'm living "the good old days" right now and I'll never see a growing season like this again.

Mast is looking great!! Our white oaks are heavy in mast this year but haven't checked the others lately .
Impressed with what you've got going on

Not habitat related but something we do for fun besides hunting/fishing/habitait. We use some of our trails on the place for training (some of the trails on the place were made just for training) so kind of counts. We ran a local race yesterday and had a blast. The boys finished 3rd and 4th overall in the 14 and under.

What great mast you have coming on. And the kid pics are awesome. Couldn't help to notice the smart one in the last pic going up the outside boards instead of wall. Now there is a thinker.
