I’m gonna ramble a bit here, so bear with me. This morning I went to pick up my one ton at the shop, and after I got there I decided I might as well go ahead and pick up my tractor at the deer lease. So far, so good.

Got to the deer lease, 20 or so miles from home, hooked up to my trailer, walked down to where my tractor was and only then realized I had no tractor key. Oh crap ! :( Then, I had a small epiphany. :) The guy at the country store a half mile up the road rents tractors, so I go borrow a key to load mine with. Key looks a lot like mine, but ain’t. :( So much for my brain power ! The Kubota dealer isn’t as far as home, so I go there and buy two new keys. :) While I’m there the salesman and I discuss food plot planting and he mentions that he’s gonna drill beans and peas this weekend. Well, I go into my sob story about drills are too expensive for me to buy just for plotting and he says..........I RENT ONE !:eek::eek:

Seems there’s a company not far from me that does conservation work on piplines and other rights-of-way and they will rent theirs out. :):):)

So, the gist of this story is that come fall this old dog is gonna try a new trick ! I’m quite sure I will be asking some questions of you guys here that have the answers.

Did you buy one Bill or ? The company that rents a six foot pull behind is in Jacksonville, I don’t know if that’s too far for you or not. I will be happy to give you the info if you want it.

I’m not ever gonna buy one, not enough work for it, but I’m for sure gonna try to rent one this fall. I may not like it as well for fall as I plant mostly wheat and I favor a carpet instead of rows, but I know it would help my soil to stop tilling. We’ll see how it works out.
