Getting the Word Out

At the risk of taking on a few rip-raffs….I really think we could use a little bit of new blood around here to spur things along…..people who have never seen these land tour threads or these food plot threads before…..people who will start asking questions that need answering…..questions that many of us likely won’t ask. I wouldn’t do it in bad taste but if any of you guys are members of other unrelated forums or websites like gun forums or truck forums, etc and you don't feel like it would cause issues with those sites…..it might really help us out if you told them a little about us and linked them here. Try not to do it in a sales pitchy way and just be genuine about the situation. What do y’all think?

Opinions?

I penned a couple paragraphs for anyone who may not have the time. Feel free to modify it however you see fit.

Dear forum members,

Recently the Quality Deer Management Association made the decision to discontinue their internet forum. Over the last two decades the forum had collected some of the top deer and land managers from across the nation. It was the #1 resource on the net for the deer and land management enthusiast and occupied many of the top spots on google searches for related topics.

Many of the long time members of that forum were opposed with the decision to eliminate such a valuable resource from the public and have therefore created a new forum where the ideas and discussions can live on. The mission of the mew forum is to provide a place where hunters and landowners can seek out real world advice on land and wildlife management topics without the truth being filtered through all the commercialized gimmicks on the market today. If you’re a hunter or land owner with questions about how to improve your property for wildlife or increase your hunting success…..or if your’re just someone who likes talking about deer……please join us on our new forum.

Thanks

Looks good to me. We can always get rid of any riff raff that shows up. Good idea.

Did you post this at qdma ? There might be a bunch from other forums checking it out looking at our comments about the closure. Just a thought

In regard to getting the word out ...
I sent private messages out to over 80 users on the old forum (mainly on Thursday). The old forum allows you to send the message to five different users. I waited until this site had some threads up on it.
The advantage I have is I have shipped chestnuts to over 100 people in two seasons. My message was positive and it included the address and name for this forum. If they came here - they saw that I had already posted. Then I slowed down my post - Kubota, Smallplot and others have go going.

If each user on here would contact 5 to 10 of your friends that posted over there it will increase our traffic. I personally believe that if they come look now - very likely they are signing up.
When someone you invite to come here does register - start a conversation with them and make them feel welcome.
Nothing beats one on one contact.
My two cents ...

I agree. The only way to keep this new forum up and running is influx of new members. Many née members found the other forum through Google. I don't know if qdma paid for this or just how Google works. I used to be a forum junkie but with work demands and kids qdma become the only forum I had time to post with. Plus I wanted to fulfill moderator duties.

I posted this forum on all posts in the qdma that referenced new forums.

Another way is for all FB members to post this on their time line. I'm sure many of your friends are deer Hunters also.

Tim is pretty good from a Google point of view. I know he will be tweaking things on the server side in the near future to improve our standing in Google results.

Thx Wayne! Got me here.

Just wanted to give this a bump back to the top and continue to urge everyone to bring in some new blood. Keep the membership growing.

Right now the best thing that folks can do is continue the (AWESOME) job of getting the word out.

QDMA had 12k users, but as running forums for 20 years I can attest that a lot of those probably were spam. The key is QUALITY users.

The best way to do that right now is that if you have a blog/website of some sort to post a link to the site there. This will help TREMENDOUSLY when google starts to really index us.

Also posting about the forum on social media, and PMing friends on other sites is super helpful.

I promise to continue to help Cutman and you guys build a really special resource for everyone to use.
