Walmart. Add more sunflower.

Haven’t seen anything obnoxious yet. Still get the standard partridge pea, ragweed, native grasses, etc. nothing out of the norm. The seeds were actually pretty clean when I poured them out and looked at it. Like I mentioned, it needs more sunflower and has a small amount of wheat.

In the past I have planted feed for seeds and my experience has been that the weeds that come along with it are not as noxious as those on my property already. Also, when growing food for wildlife, most weeds are food too. The only time weeds bother me is when they start smothering out a major area of my plantings, like grasses in clover, or an enlarging patch of thistles, or marestail in soybeans. Then I'll break out the mower or some herbicide and deal with it. But I haven't seen a significant connection between these weed populations and planting certified seed vs planting bin run/ birdseed and I like the cost savings in seed for larger acreages.

I’m surprised you didn’t get a load of weeds when you planted. Looks like you broadcasted the seed. Do you remember what seed rate you used? Looks a little to thick for turkeys to use.

I planted it at 1- 10lb bag per acre and I planted an acre or just shy. Deer and turkeys traveled through it and they really used it once it had died. The deer were bedding in it and ate the heads they could reach, the turkeys and other wildlife ate the heads that I mowed down. You can remove some of the seeds and add more sunflowers as my deer ate all of them before they had a chance.
