Well windows 10 that got installed on my computer when it crashed is really testing my religion. But i'm going to try to update a few pics for you. Nothing real exciting yet. Its rained only twice this year. Once in March for 90 days then again in June for 120 days. It's been unreal. Good moisture but lack of sunshine has hampered crops but not as bad as last years 3 month fall drought. I'll take the rain thank you. No chance to spray grasses and have mowed plots more than ever since owning the place. As said, hard mast is abundant, soft mast decent.
Not shooting does the last couple years for reasons talked about before has really let them rebound and more bucks this year as a result getting things back to what it was 4 years ago.
Now cover you eyes, because these plots are what I do anymore. They are grass infested and I lose no sleep about it. Most are done these days with no tillage and the brassica and grains and clovers and oats are coexist just like the liberals are wanting it to be. So here goes.
Going into its 6th year, the clover chicory alfalfa plot. Deer keep it mowed, I only mow the weeds. I know you tire of seeing it, but many talk of how difficult it is to have alfalfa. See the alfalfa in the cage?? Please don't tell the deer.
And ignore those grasses. They don't hurt anything but suck up the extra N that contributes to unwanted weeds. Yes I do spray Cleth some years, but mainly mow high to keep weeds in ck. I add 0-20-20 and Boron by way of Borax each spring and sometimes fall. I overseed with WR in Sept with helps with the weeds and grasses.
Brassicas? Now this is ugly but they are doing well. Deer like them too well and as I've said, I may quit planting them. As you can see, they have already been browseing them for a month so the soil busting, late season food I want in their tubors will never have a chance to develope.
All the brassica were planted without spraying, just broadcast and mow. Deer are in it daily with signs saying Grass Lives Matter.
And you know I'm going show the Bufflalo plot. Won't bore you with the details again, but it just don't get easier than this for deer food.
No problem keeping new water hole full. These are a waste of time for me to dig. Deer give little use I guess since I have 2 ponds and 2 creeks on the place. Looks good anyways.
This is why I'd rather have an old dominate stud coyote running my place. The old one has died I think and this young one is much more random in his movements as he establishes his territory and pecking order. Perhaps one day he will be grey haired like his now gone father.
Deer do like the trophy rock. Great for doing pics. I'll move cameras to man made scrape this weekend.
