Foil balloons

The article sounds like it was written by somebody with a tinfoil hat. Bucks often will bed on the military crest of a ridge. I find the foil balloons more in flat areas, bottoms, and hollows.

I guess balloons just fall where they fall then. Because I find the majority of the balloons on our place at the higher elevations. I never recorded it but did look at my garmin once. If I remember correctly our place gains 1000 feet in elevation from bottom to top.

I don’t know about the balloon-bedding correlation but I do like Dan Infaults hunting style. Aggressively hunting bucks in their beds is a different game vs waiting for a lovesick buck to wander past you.

Aggressively hunting bucks in their beds will often send all the biggest bucks to the neighbors.

My favorite ones are the balloons that sing happy birthday in Spanish. I find at least one of those every year. My dog hated them.

Based on how remote my place is, there must be ba-zillion of these things being released every year. I always wonder how in the world they end up on my property and from where they came. Wish they would put a, "city or county released" on em for folks to at least write where they were when released.

I just googled, "how far will a helium foil balloon travel" The all knowing all wise google wizard says 1000 miles.

Maybe we can get the Dems to add foil balloon banding into their new corona virus relief bill

They are Russian tracking devices to manipulate the election. Be careful.

Done poorly I agree with you. But done right it’s a great way to hunt. Guys like Infault Hunt a lot of locations a lot of which are public land, but they’re not blowing them out willy nilly. They spend a lot of time off season scouting and hunt their spots only under the right conditions. Easing back closer to the known bed over a couple of sits generally. You’re hunting a targeted buck before the orange army invades during the rut. I don’t hunt that way on my home 40 but I have a few places that I do. There’s a certain satisfaction in shooting a mature buck on his own turf before he’s lovesick. Just like how people say hunting mature deer is a different game, hunting mature deer pre-rut in their bedrooms is a different game.
