Have sat in the heat and mosquitos trying to get video of this 6 yr old and finally got about 15 secs before he smelled me ending that.

Which proves that a deer in a fence is just as wild as a deer outside a fence. Keep the pics coming.

It has rained over 10" THIS MORNING. Thus being housebound and bored I edited the summer footage I have so far. Hoped to have more and better but deer are deer then add heat, mosquitos, bugs, swirling wind.....I have more excuses if interested.

Unfortunately this guy isn't on the video...yet. I've sat numerous times looking for him but he is totally nocturnal.

Huge mass, teardropped droptine, gnarly bases... WOW! Of all the great bucks you post that one is high on my list of awesome! Very cool.

If you know, how old is he?

Not sure who he is but obviously mature. If I had to guess I would say at least 6 and maybe older. I think the one to his left is maybe 5 but probably six and the 6 looks older to me. But summer aging is tough. I look at the head.

If I had to guess (as it would be a complete guess) I would say he is older than the other one too. His face has larger veins in it, he appears bigger bodied (but he is closer to the camera), and he looks a little more full in the ribs and belly area. He could just be genetically different though... kind of like your frame is a little different than Shaq's frame and it has nothing to do with age. No matter as he is as cool as all getout!

Holy Cow!!! Wonder if our great, great forefathers encountered really mature whitetails? Most of us modern day hunters, particularly in the south will prolly never lay eyes on a 6.5 or older buck. They get slaughtered at 2.5 down here. We feel luck when we can get 3 or 4 a year to the 3.5 yr old phase and feel like we've won the lottery to take a 4.5 yr old.

I'm sure they did. When I first started hunting south Tx. in the 70's what awakened me so powerfully was how many mature bucks there were. Large ranches, light pressure creating a herd that was a fair replication of how nature intended a herd to look with age structure, ratio and density. Very educational. Try to replicate what I learned in those environments here on my farm

Roller crimped about 5 acres of an 11 acre dove field this morning hopefully to get doves coming in. Will crimp the rest a week or two before season opener . Tons of seed...brown top millet, sorghum, pearl millet, sunflower. Did all I can do now up to the doves.

I know I have posted a pic of this buck already, but I think he's cool and I FINALLY got a daytime pic of him. I have sat unsuccessfully numerous times trying to get video. 6 yr old I think, mass was ~44" last yr .

Some velvet footage taken in hundred degree heat with b&c mosquitos. Short but I couldn't take much more.
