$0.60 per lb cut down and delivered. I only had about 20"x 20" left over and I made two extra teeth incase I break one. you would probably cringe at what we throw away every day here, but you just can not keep all the "good stuff". Facter it into the cost of the build and chuck it into the scrap bin.

All welded up. Sand blast and yellow paint it will be ready for work. Hopefully weld brackets on dozer blade Wednesday if the weather lets up.

A piece of equipment is only as good as the attachments that you have for it. That thing should turn your dozer into a serious root raking machine. I've noticed that the land I cleared and leveled keeps getting divots as the roots keep rotting and turning to the surface. Should have had that toothbar. I'm guessing you will get the best results by pushing forward then backdragging to shake the dirt off the roots. That thing has the perfect angle for backdragging.

I will still use the excavator to pull the stumps out. the teeth on this is 18" deep so the plan will be to just run deep enough to pick up all the debris and have it roll in front of the blade to help knock of dirt. although I try to shake dirt off with the excavator first. Im hoping this makes it easier to move the big the stump piles across the plots. The root rake pivots on the top of the blade so you can back blade holes shut with the smooth bottom of the dozer blade. At least that is how it is supposed to work

I like it! Can't wait to see it in action (when you post the video that wbpdeer suggested). I'm considering building one or buying one for the skidsteer but have been apprehensive to spend the cash. I saw one at the local rental store, need to grab it for a weekend to see how much I like it.

LOL. may be a little bit before you see video of proper use... The first road I tried to widen out, Ricky Carmichael could have came and practiced riding on the whoops. Glad you guys like the threads. I probably only post half the crazy stuff that we do. Either because of no time and I forget or its so bad you guys would laugh your butts off. But I'am having fun doing it and thats what matters the most at the end of the day. Heck at marriage counseling last week the counselor told me I am "addicted to intense living, everything I do is to the extreme". couldn't argue that because one thing I've all ways said is " anything worth doing is worth overdoing". I didnt even post on my property tour about me shooting a black bear last day of archery season while I was standing in my underwear this year.. LOL Honestly that is true story. I swear some of things that we do is so crazy one person couldn't make it up..

From what Ive seen they should work awesome. befor I got my dozer I was going to make one to fit my skid steer that would also fit a 3pt hitch to use with tractor. My rock rake that I made for my tractor is same theory it just has the teeth closer together. It would work for roots but not stumps if you were to pull it with a tractor.

well I will have to wait till another day for better pictures. While it warmed up today and the rain held off, the wife and I went and got the root rake installed. Now for some dry days so I can put this thing to work.

befor the snow came today I went and tried out the new root rake since the wind and sun dried up most of the mud. After I got the hang of the rake it worked amazing. Cleared over an acre in less than two hours. I love taking Manual out of Labor.

Mm, as a lifetime dozer operator I can tell you that saplings are a clearing nightmare, both in time and difficulty. If he got two acres a day and not much dirt in the burn pile, he wasn't doing badly at all. Hell, if he just got them on the ground he wasn't doing badly. They are literally a pain in the butt. Medium sized trees are probably the easiest, those that the dozer of choice can take down without cutting the roots. They pile easier and you get less dirt in the pile. Almost anybody can knock trees down, what separates the men from the boys is how much dirt is in the pile when you burn it. Dirt don't burn good !

The best way to clear saplings is with a smaller dozer with a tilt and angle blade. You tilt and angle your blade and punch the saplings out of the ground with less dirt on the roots. After you get a bunch of them on the ground you can pile them, and roll your brush two or three times before you put it on the pile. This lets some of the dirt fall out and to quote Wilford Brimley, it makes for a more harmonious outcome.

Saplings are a pain. I have been using a Danuser Tree puller on my CTL to pull them, it lets the dirt fall off and is fast. Even with the D6 I am still using my excavator to pull the stumps. I can knock the dirt off better and its less wear and tear on the dozer. Plus it is more fun to jump back and forth on the machines. Helps to break up the days work. I find having the right tool for the job makes the work more enjoyable.

Double L, you did a helluva job on building the flop rake ! Probably half the cost of buying a new one ready made.

Nice build. If I had a cab on my dozer I would never be home! Looks like it should take lots of abuse.
