Congratulations on the deer for yourself and Brooks! Those are some nice deer! How old do you think the old one Brooks shot was?
I am so glad Oklahoma doesn’t have a 3 month firearms season because if we did 2.5 yr olds at most is all we would likely ever see...

Axis on three islands in Maui County and Columbian Blacktail on Kuaui. I haven't hunted the blacktail out here but have hunted Axis deer pretty hard since 2012.

Okie - Taxidermist says 5.5 or older. Tract I bought in adjoining county is surrounded by large property owners. One doesn't allow hunting and the other has 1 person hunting it. Bout 5 miles out of town. Pretty good chance of older bucks surviving due to low hunting pressure. Brooks loving it as it's a mile from his home.

Well, I am not out there either right now due to the rain, freezing rain. I am most disappointed that I got to check my camera down at the feeder back in the woods and the card was totally corrupted and I got no pictures since I last checked it on FridayI’m not with you today Okie, had something else I had to do, and I think you may be a little nuts after reading your weather report post this morning

11 days and counting....NC bound. Bitterly cold Tuesday and Wednesday then it turns mild again. Hopefully I'll get lucky with some good cold rut hunting weather.

I was hunting Okie. Can’t say the same for my habitat work. I didn’t have much action on cameras early this year so I decided to wait to get in the woods the first weekend of November. Work has been crazy (thankfully) so I couldn’t take any time off.
I need to work on my best rut stand because I stick out like a sore thumb. I text a few buddies that are also out hunting, but try to keep my head up and my phone off. The deer can come from any direction and I usually see them before I hear them. Also, I work in technology so it’s nice to get out in the woods and take it all in with limited distractions.

4 days out...it's cold on the east coast but warming up unfortunately. On a good note, the warmer weather is accompanied by lots of rain.
