Does anybody else hunt?

We have a live from the stand thread in the Deer Hunting section and there are a few of us that update it while hunting but we have over 1700 members and I can count on one hand who is gonna post...cutman, dry creek, pinetag, chainsaw some, and myself. It’s November 5th and in much of the whitetail range the bucks are beginning to rut. Is everyone waiting on some type of rifle season or ?

I sometimes update it the next day if I don’t have service where I am. I myself like to read everyone’s hunting adventures...

I hunt!!! Just haven't got a chance this year yet!!!! Youth season starts the 9th at home and in have 2 of the 3 kids chomping at the chance. I will post of I ever get a chance to go

Sorry Okie.....I have not been out yet. Our gun opener is the 16th and I'm on vacation for the entire 2 week season...so hopefully I'll be able to provide some updates.....been busy with my battle wagon project!

I've not hunted yet this year and may not. I've been hard at it training for a race and no time for hunting worked in. I do enjoy reading the stories though.

Come on Okie, you know we all live vicariosly thru you and your endeavers with those stud bucks you have in the Sooner state! . With no cell phone coverage at my place my posts have to be post partem typically. And I'm accused these days by those around me of just going to watch deer and never shooting any more, which has some truth to it. But I do like reading everyones hunts successful or not.

We drew permits to muzzleload hunt one of our WMAs, but for some reason my son said not to share the pic.

I hunted quite a bit during our early bow season but have no service where our bow hunting stands are. Hence no live reports.... I did have the best bow hunting night of my life (I never drew). I had 14 bucks come into our well plot (11 of which were 8pts). About the same number of does. My top 2 target bucks were a no show. The deer went nuts on a newly planted triticale/oats/chicory/clover/radish plot. I did have this 5+ year old 2x3 (3rd from left) in front of me for more than hour from 10-30yds.86BD8EF0-CFA4-4723-891D-9B560B5BE910.jpeg

Okie - Another here with no cell service once I leave the cabin to head to the stand. And when I do have cell service at the cabin, it is sketchy at best and not enough juice to post a pic while at the farm. It's like one bar from time to time and it comes and goes. I can't even text from the stand. I do enjoy following along though but it's just not the same if not doing it while sitting in the stand.

And, I don't post as much as I once did. We're hunting for sure. I took a nice 8 this past Saturday morning then watched multiple bucks chasing does in our lower lower plot Saturday afternoon. Sunday afternoon, Brooks arrowed the oldest buck he's ever killed but not on the Triple C. I purchased a tract of land in the adjoining county where we're soon to break ground on our final home that's located a mile from Brooks and a mile from our daughter's home. Brooks killed the buck on the new property.

The "Live from the Tree" section seems more fitting to post while sitting in the tree - not a day or 2 after returning back home.

I'm busier than ever with work and travel. I continue to go the farm most weekends and continue to make improvements to our grounds. Food plots are doing great, plenty of deer using our place, but very tough to get bucks beyond 3.5 yrs old. In fact, almost impossible with a 3 month long firearms season here in GA. We're chasing a couple of nice ones on the Triple C and on the new tract.

And like dogghr, I mostly watch em these days. Buck I killed Saturday is only my 2nd buck since 2011. 90% of the time, I hunt with a recurve bow. Thus the reason I do a whole lot of watching and very little killing. For some odd reason, Saturday morning I decided to sit in the Redneck with rifle in hand, overlooking our largest food plot. Watched deer feed for about an hour prior to the 8 walking out of the pines into the plot and it was all over in probably 5 seconds. Back to stick and string now.

Sorry for the rambling, but just wanted you to know that I still log in most days and catch up. Hopefully, I'll post more in the future. And when I retire, I'll switch from AT&T to Verizon. Verizon has service pretty much anywhere on the farm. AT&T sux. Then I'll be joining you guys in posting from the stand!

I still don't have all my plots in here in Florida! Nor all the stands ready.

Thanksgiving is our 4-day gun opener...I'll hunt that until I get a doe, which could be as short as a 30-minute hunt. Then it's another doe when the right one comes out until the Jan-Feb timeframe when our rut kicks in.

Thanks guys for posting all of this up...it just seems like we should have some actual “Hunting” stories on a forum called “deerhunterforum”...lol

It has been a busy fall for us, had my youngest son and a nephew get married on back to back weekends in October so we've only had the muzzleload hunt and one bow hunt this year.
Our modern gun opens up this weekend and Chuck and I are taking vacation as always. There will be a few pics from NE Ark up definitely.

I'll crossbow hunt a few times if the weather is right, but the rut is barely starting here. I don't like to shoot rutting bucks so will probably wait for rifle season, which is a month away.
I guess I could post some trail camera pics;)

Yes Okie, I'm hunting but on a limited basis until the larger deer here are more on the go. Even when I do start hunting more often and longer, most of my hunting is done sitting on the ground and normally there are only a few seconds available to view and assess the deer, decide to take it and make the shot. Further the deer are usually very close to me and any movement at all on my part even just digging the phone out of the pack would be detected by every deer going by. And I don't know how to use the phone for that either. I do enjoy following the thread though and will learn the phone process and chime in at least on the few days I sit in a ladder stand.

Well the Axis deer and bonefish rut is over here in Hawaii but I’m headed for the NC hills in late November!

May 2019 rut action!

Okie - I'm gonna do that over the next couple of months in my property thread as we're breaking ground. Really cool tract of land located close to the kids and grand kids. 56 acres. Most property in this county is privately owned with very little hunting pressure. Really looking forward to the next year.
