Thought it might be interesting to see how different the Regs were in different states.

Down here in Fl during Archery you can take 2 Deer a day -either Doe + Doe, Buck +Buck, or Buck + Doe.
Crossbow Only Week Bucks (2 a Day) Only.
Gun 2-Bucks per day, with some Doe Day Weekends thrown in.

Used to be any Buck with a 5 inch Spike was legal. About 3 years back they made it 3-Points on one side OR a 10 inch Main Beam. The Main Beam was to satisfy the Dog Hunters who complained they couldn't count points with a running deer.

On a Recent Survey the FWC Proposed a new Deer Limit of 3 Bucks and 2 Doe per year.

I'd love to see it happen but there are a LOT of guys that are going insane over this. They are crying they need 10+ deer to fill their freezer for their family to eat or they will starve. Also the common reply is "taking my ability to shoot as many Bucks as I want won't help you get one" and "punishing the Good Hunters won't help the Bad Hunters get a deer".

So what does your area Regs look like?

Ky has a 1-buck limit statewide.
As far as doe harvest, our counties are classified as Zone 1 through Zone 4.
Zone 1 means a county is estimated to have >30 deer per square mile and/or a certain number of deer/car wrecks or farmer complaints.
In Zone 1 counties, you can take an unlimited number of does, as the goal is herd reduction.

Zone 4 counties are estimated at 12 or fewer deer per square mile. There, you can harvest 1 buck and one doe. The goal is to increase the herd in Zone 4 counties.

Zones 2 and 3 fall somewhere in between. Zone 2 is considered ideal, at around 20~25 DPSM.

In East Texas most counties have a 13" minimum inside spread. No more than one branch antlered buck per county, but you can kill another in a different county. Two buck limit, but one must be a spike if it's in the same county. (I detest the spike rule, I would just as soon it be a one buck limit, because lots of guys will shoot the first spike they see, then hunt for a better one. I am unalterably opposed to shooting spikes, especially when it's based on pleasing the hunting public instead of deer science.)

Archery season limits us to two does as well as the aforementioned bucks. Gun season allows for about two weeks of "doe days". Muzzleloader season comes after rifle and basically reverts to archery rules. (Why can't we hunt with archery gear in muzzleloader season ????)

So basically, two does and two bucks, if you (and the deer) can manage to navigate the regs and your respective schedules.

SC Changed their Rules last year. It used to be UNLIMITED BUCKS, but now they went to a Tag System and it is different for Resident vs Non-Resident. Somebody from there can give better details but from what I can remember (SIL has a friend that owns land up there and I looked at getting a license last year) Residents get all their tags mailed to them. For NR's I think it is Doe on certain days the tag for that date is good, Bucks are something like 1 tag for 4-side and 1- any buck for Non-Residents. Each Tag for a NR costs a different amount and you can buy what you want.

Bag Limits
East of the Blue Ridge (except on National Forest lands in Amherst, Bedford, and Nelson counties)
The bag limit for deer shall be two a day, six a license year. Of the six-deer limit, no more than three may be antlered deer and at least three must be antlerless deer (unless noted in the exception below).

Exceptions

• The daily bag limit for deer shall be unlimited in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties (including the cities and towns within). However, no more than three antlered deer may be killed in a license year.

West of the Blue Ridge and on National Forest lands in Amherst, Bedford, and Nelson counties
The bag limit for deer shall be one a day and five a license year. Of the five-deer limit, no more than two may be antlered deer and at least three must be antlerless deer (unless noted in the exceptions below).

Exceptions

• The daily bag limit for deer shall be two a day on private lands in Clarke, Frederick, Roanoke, Shenandoah, and Warren counties (including the cities and towns within).
• If a deer hunter kills two antlered bucks in a license year in Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge, Rockingham, or Shenandoah County, at least one of the bucks must have at least four antler points, one inch or longer, on one side of the antlers.

Bag Limit Exceptions

• Deer hunters, including those exempt from purchasing a license, on private land and authorized public lands may take more than the license-year bag limit of antlerless deer by using bonus deer permits or special permits (DCAP, DMAP, and DPOP).
• DCAP, DMAP, and DPOP tags do not count against the daily or season bag limit.

I'm not a lawyer so not really sure if I can interpret our regs properly. Numbers vary with each county from limited to liberal
But bear season starts labor day till end of year and you can take 3 with bow and rifle. Some dog hunting allowed.
Dear season in my county, you could take 8 doe if you don't want a buck or 6 bucks and 3 does is legal. Some public land has APR restrictions, and 4 counties are bow only both with 1- 2 buck max.
New this year is a dedicated primitive season in Jan for side hammer ML w open sites and recurve/longbow in which you can take a bear and deer.of either sex.
At one time I used to easily tag out each year but now seldom shoot more than 1 deer and sometimes none.

Residents
When residents purchase a Hunting License and Big Game Permit OR if they currently have an active Hunting License and Big Game Permit that will be valid when deer season begins on August 15 they will automatically receive a base set of deer tags at no cost prior to deer season.

The base set of tags consist of the following:

• 3 unrestricted antlered buck tags.
• 8 date specific antlerless deer tags. Each antlerless tag is only valid on one specific day and cannot be used on any other day. Similar to the "doe days" in the past.

Residents - additional deer tag purchases

• Residents may purchase 2 additional antler restriction buck tags for $5 each. The restriction is the buck must have 4 points on one antler or a minimum 12-inch inside spread. There is no particular order in which the antlered buck tags must be used.
• As in the past, all residents may purchase up to 4 individual antlerless tags for $5 each. Tags are valid on any day beginning September 15 in Game Zones 2, 3, 4 and October 1 in Game Zone 1 until the end of the deer hunting season.

Resident archery hunters
Resident archery hunters may use any of their date specific antlerless tags to take antlerless deer on any day during ARCHERY ONLY or PRIMITIVE WEAPONS ONLY SEASONS beginning September 15. This dual purpose tag is only valid on private land in Game Zones 1 & 2 and on certain WMAs statewide. The Archery Use exception allows these tags to be used only during Archery Only & Primitive Weapons Seasons. This use of these tags is NOT VALID on private lands in Game Zones 3 or 4 because those areas do not have Archery Only or Primitive Weapons seasons that occur on or after September 15. Certain WMAs statewide do have Archery Only &/or Primitive Weapons seasons on or after September 15 and these tags may be utilized on those areas. To be valid the archery notation box, actual harvest date & game zone must be marked on the tag. Once used for this purpose these tags are no longer available for use later in the season on the designated date.

IN ....it's complicated because it all depends on where you are hunting, what your hunting with. We have separate tags for archery, firearms, muzzleloader and bonus antlerless deer (to allow a hunter to take a deer per tag beyond those limits provided thru the other tag purchases). Those "bonus antlerless" deer are then limited based on a county quota on a per person basis. Toss in hunting in an "urban zone" or a "special park reduction hunt" and things get complicated. Some counties who have their "bonus antlerless" quota number as an 8 - also have a special late season antlerless season that I think requires it's own tag for as well. Our limits are not based on a per day limit. In general (without the various exceptions) IN also only allows a hunter to take a single antlered deer over the duration of the entire deer hunting season regardless of weapon used. IN is on an antlerless deer killing mission!

Basically in OKLA. you get 6 deer for all seasons combined. 2 must be bucks. We limit ourselves to 1 buck per year and shoot a least 2 does per season.We usually know the shooter buck we are looking for. Last year was an exception when a buck I hadn't seen in 2 years showed up.

Yeah, super strict now...you can only kill 17 deer if you buy all the additional tags and the rifle season is 3-5 months long depending on the zone.

SC was overrun with deer in the late 90's, the liberal season has certainly thinned the herd. I'm surprised the seasons and bag limits haven't changed more drastically over the past few years.

We're in a MLD system in Texas. We get tags based off of surveys done throughout the year. This year we got 4 antlered tags and 7 doe tags for our 1500 acres.

From what you posted it seems the game folks aren’t the ones distributing the doe tags????
I bet that doe tag money stays in the issuing county treasury.

MN Zone 108. One buck per year. No APR. Doe is lottery. We give them a pass, unless a kid wants to shoot one.

Don't see a lot of deer. But, we're working on it. Year one - hunted the land as we bought it didn't see a single deer. Year two, added food, 2 acres of WR. Saw three deer. This year, actually limed and fertilized, planted brassica along with WR. Put in a second blind with a view of a natural deer funnel.

Will see what we see this year.

I don’t understand how some of y’all still have deer left with the amount of deer they allow hunters to take. Truly amazing!
