Like many I'm old and worn out. And we all know the fun is over after you pull the trigger. I added something to my home made cart that makes picking up a deer almost childs play. It has even made gutting much easier on my back.

That looks like it will work ! I kinda had the same idea, mounted a cheap winch to the rear of the roof on my Ranger. Dump the bed and winch him right up into it. Trouble is, I sold the Ranger to my son, so now I have to get another steel roof built so I can start over on my CanAm:(

Went to a otter sled number of years ago and glad i did...tip the sled on its side next to the deer if you are alone or if have one other buddy only have to lift it 12" off the ground into the sled and away you go.

Very interesting way of gutting a deer though with a winch like that. i would agree after gutting a deer it can be hard to stand up straight.

The best part of the gutting process is after you separate the heart/lungs the diaphragm is easy to cut and gravity is pushing the stomach etc down and out minimizing nicking the stinky parts. We learned it's best to open it up lying on it's back

That is a nice setup for loading deer onto the cart. We were having a tough time getting bucks into the Ranger bed. Once we tilted the bed it wasn't too bad with two of us. Using a ratchet strap hooked on one inside tie down we were able to hold the deer in the bed while we returned it to horizontal. Thanks for showing us your solution.. I'd like to come with something like that to load the deer into the Ranger Bed. Gutting on the ground is not a problem yet but loading em with the Ranger alone sure is. When it is not pouring rain out the tractor bucket of course is the ticket; If I could only get my crew to only hunt in good weather it would be better. But then again there seems to be a connection between cold, extra dark rainy/snowing evenings and shooting bucks.
