Coues Deer

I like it haha! Supposed to be going down to AZ just north of Mexico this Oct. but have never hunted them before. Got an invite from a friend who we've had deer hunt here in VA w/ us. Looking fwd. to something new!

I shot one in 2012. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Spotted a buck an hour into my first Coues hunt ever, four hour stalk, arrowed him at 50 yards. My first and only P and Y entry.

But seriously, I got lucky. I drove around several days after that hunt glassing canyons with my then two-year-old daughter in tow. We only found bucks one evening. It can be tough. Hunting Coues is a ton of fun and something I hope to do annually when Uncle Sam is done with me.

Report back after the fact. I been seriously thinking of trying it since have to buy an Arizona license anyway to acrew elk points. Looks like a fun hunt.

Exactly, I'm up to 14 points in AZ and have only used my license once!

Any of you ever hunted Coues deer? I’m planning a trip to Arizona in 2021 to hunt them. I’ve given up trying to kill a really big buck so I’m gonna try to kill a really small one.

The good news is the really big ones are really small!

Tommy - Need to hook you up with Brooks. He went in 2014 on a guided deal near Tucson. Didn't connect on a Coues but did manage a little feisty javelina. He can share his experience with you.
