Clover plots

I limed and fertilized my clover plots Saturday. The deer definitely put a hurting on the plots and they are mowed down. This is my second full year of plotting. Last fall the plots were thick and impressive but I can see bare dirt now. Once the spring growth starts, will the plots fill out, or should I go ahead and overseed them?

A picture is always worth a 1000 words ...... but, for now if you were to visualize each clover plant being 6" in diameter, would it fill in all the bare spots? Don't mow this season, till the clover has gone to seed, and that will add more seed to your seed bank. I'd be willing to bet that by May first, you'll be pleased. You may just have to get in there and spray for grasses and weeds.

This is what my Durana looks like, filling in a bare spot.

I'd broadcast 2 bushels of barley/forage barley on it right now. Let it grow up and die out naturally.
