Chinese Chestnut Performance on the Eastern Great Plains

Yeah I read that, and I wonder if I'm wasting my time trying the grow chestnuts in Kingfisher County Okla. We are about 75 miles farther west than Manhattan Kansas. If that's the western edge I'm going to have to do something else.
I'm having the best luck with Bur oak and a few English oak. I have a crap load of STO to plant there this fall and several 2 year old Chestnuts & Bur Oak that are about 3' tall and some walmart Dunstin's. Time will tell I guess.

I’m in Lamar County, Texas and although my Chestnuts struggle at times (with drought and heat) they are surviving and growing. One tree is trying to produce nuts this year at five years old. They were all grown from seed.
