Bull Pen, Mandy Hollow and Cari's Corner

Looking good LnG! I am off the next few days to see how I can do with a bow...get out there already!!!

My son and his two oldest (8 and 10) are visiting from North Carolina and we are taking boys hunting for first time. My son is who got me into deer hunting and we are excited for his boys to go.
The experience is more important than the hunt so I have rigged up a holiday shooting target for them to practice. Pick a color and boom! It is raining so I want them to know what they hit within walking in the rain!

lak...Love the balloon targets. Gonna have to add that to my list.
Yes the target worked great. Unfortunately deer did not cooperate. Been a disappointing year. Nocturnal deer early on. Youth weekend was only good sightings. Dont know why this year so different but we will keep trying. Rut usually mid January and on.
Wishing all a fantastic 2019!

Rut timing across the country is very different. Some of our bucks have already shed their antlers!

So different. Season extends into February here in Alabama because some area's Rut is so late. But we are not even finding the does this year.

Similar year over here in S.C. Nocturnal deer for no reason. I managed to get my target buck in September, but the end of the season was pathetic. I blame the extremely wet weather and warm temps.

Those are some fantastic brow tines on that buck;I've never seen anything like that. Is it real or are you just kidding with it? Also Lak love your balloon target tree. That looks like a very fun thing to add to target practicing. Thanks for sharing it with us--we don't have any kids around but we can play the part pretty well.

You folks are still hunting? When does your seasons end? Ours in Michigan goes Oct 1 bow season (to January 1st), Nov 15th rifle to Nov 30th, Muzzleloader was December 7-16th this year, we had a late antlerless as well with any weapon from Dec 17th through Jan 1.

Special regs antlerless ends this Saturday, and that wraps up Pennsylvania until next fall. Spring gobbler here we come.
