Best/ Worst ATV

I have never owned an ATV myself. However, my father has 2 and a guy a worked with had one that he really hated!

My father will nearly tear your head off at even mentioning a particular brand and the guy I worked with said he really contemplated having it "fall out of the back of his truck" as he was taking down the interstate to be serviced again simply so it would be destroyed and covered under his insurance......this sentiment was regarding POLARIS.

My father has a hand-me-down honda fourtrax that has been around the family for roughly 25 years and it squeaks and rattles but it's still kicking!!!

For what it's worth I have 700 CAT, it's built like a tank. I've used and abused it and it just keep on going. Save yourself a few $$$ and look for a new non current year model. I bought a new 09 in 11, still got full warranty but save a LOT.

I may do just that. I have seen some ads for new leftovers (2015's) for around the same $$ as what some people are asking for used models of similar size. I will do without a couple frills for that kind of deal!

I bought a new Honda Foreman/Rubicon in 2003. It has been a workhorse and certainly not been babied. Oil changes and never an ounce of problem. It still looks great too! I would replace it in an instant if something happened to it.

Interesting... we have 3 Polaris ATV' s without any problems. Only thing I have had to do is replace batteries occasionally and change oil. I use the he!! Out of them too...

Honda anything.. Tough...Reliable. I rolled one down a hill I had no business climbing end over end for about 60 yards. It hit rocks , trees and brush on the way down. Straightened out the handle bars and drove it home. Tough machines.

I have a 2001 honda rubicon that I bought used in
2003 with almost 2000 miles on it. I have pulled out too many deer to count and used it since then to do food plots. I would not hesitate to get another used one.

I also have been running Polaris for many many years without ever an issue as far as the machine. Have had things happen that were brought on by the way they were used but never just from riding or working them. I have owned Sportsman 500s, 800's, Scrambler, I think the kids bike I got was a 330 or something like that and I have owned 800 Ranger HD and also a 900 RZR4. I still have the RZR and a Sportsman without any issues. RZR is for sale if interested in it. I am going back to a Ranger to get more work then play done.

I have a 2014 Honda Rancher 420. I don't think you need anything bigger. It also has fuel injection which is NICE when it's extremely cold, no choke to mess with.

I put a ball on it and tow around an ATV trailer with all my tools, trees, dirt, etc. Have a 26 gallon north star sprayer on the back rack. Gun rack on the front, and I'm going to get a chainsaw holder for the front also.

Have yet to figure out how to mount my polesaw to the trailer, still trying to figure something out.

I paid $4300 brand new at the end of 2014. Used 2012's were around the same price. No 4WD, but I don't really need it.

Here's a couple pictures of my planting rig. Chainsaw going on the front next year.

Can't really beat the value when looking at new ATVs when it comes to a Honda.

I bought a 60$ rack designed to hall string timers and keeps pole saw from bouncing around getting tore up.

What brand/model? I found a nice one for a regular saw that goes on the front rack, but that doesn't help the pole saw.

.

Try these. I mounted them on my front box to carry a spade, work great and fairly cheap.

Bought the rack set up for three but also have for two. I can hall the weed eater, pole saw, and hook for hinge cutting without needing to go back to the barn. For this price I would not even attempt to fabricate something. If I new how to post pics I would have but I need to get to the farm to plant brassicas.

I have 2 Arctic cats
I keep them at different places One is a 400cc I bought new in 2003. The other is a 2001 250 cc I bought used.
No complaints.

No matter what brand you buy....some are great, some have trouble. I have personally only owned Honda ATV's and a Kawasaki Mule 3010 4x4. All of the Honda's have been great from a 1985 ATC 70 three wheeler to a 2007 Honda Foreman 500 4x4. You can get a great bike off of craigslist if you are patient.
