Atv spreader problem

The spreader I have is 9 years old. While using it yesterday the motor suddenly slowed down. I was spreading fertilizer at the time so I thought maybe there was some corrosion. I cleaned it and sprayed the rotor with pb blaster. When I turn it on, it tries to turn but very slowly. Is it most likely the motor just suddenly went bad?

9 year old spreader that is used for fertilizer too suddenly go bad? I'd say it's taken 9 years for it to go bad.....I'd say you got your money's worth

Most likely A bad bearing in the motor. If you can get it off an electric motor shop should be able to disassemble and replace the bearings.

You may be able to get a new motor from the manufacturer

Lol. Probably right. I mean it was working just fine one second and the next it wasn’t.

I just replaced an ancient motor and spreader plate with one from Moultrie. Had to modify it a bit but for $40 figured it was worth a try.

I had to call their parts department. Just look at the schematics they have on the website and find one that uses a similar motor. The other options are for salt spreaders which would probably last a lot longer but are much more $$$.
