Are You Skeered?

I ate in a restaurant the first time since Early March today. The Mexican restaurant I ate at was always almost standing room only before the hoax came along that for some reason the powers that be decided to kill our economy. There were a few cars when we pulled up but most were sitting in the car. We went in and there were only 2 people dining inside at noon on taco Tuesday. Everyone else was afraid to come in. We got our food and ate inside and it was nice. Nobody else came in while we were there and there were just a few waiting in cars. I asked the lady who took our money if it would ever come back...she asked “will what come back” I said the people, the economy and she said “this is good, I just hope this disease goes away and people stay home”...it was sad that she doesn’t even see that sitting home is absolutely no life...
That's a little different from around here. Any restaurants that were able to open up are flooded out. Then again, chinese and mexican are niche markets, not mainstream american dining. Even if the place was full before people may be a little hesitant about ethnic dining. If our pa dutch restaurants like shady maple smorgasbord open they'll be packed out for sure. The other Saturday people were backed up two miles down the highway to get takeout from one of the best caterers in the county and the police came out to shut them down but they were too late, they were sold out of food before the police arrived.

Is your County one of the ones the Governor said were cowards? How did PA elect a guy like that. I doubt he’ll be elected again. He seems to have made more than a few people think about that. The picture they show on TV makes him look like a deer in the headlights. LOL. Actually I think the picture looks like a lot of people out in San Francisco.

Pennsylvania has three voting districts; Pittsburgh, Philly, and everywhere else. The first two vote Democrat because most of them either work for social services or are recipients of it. The third votes Republican because they work for a living. Simple math says 2 always outvotes 1.
It's difficult to beat an incumbent but Scott Wagner came very close.
And yes, the county commissioners are brave enough to open up on Friday without the governors blessing.

Good luck, he made a lot of threats today. Yanking business licenses and such. Telling businesses that insurance won’t cover their business because they are doing an illegal act. I’m going to say the people win out on this fight. He’s going to have to bend Problem is he got into a pact with the devil ( CUOMO ).and MURPHY. So he’s trying to save face with them.

The one source of his lame decisions is getting poor counsel from the he-she-it doctor that he put in charge of the health department.

We’re getting a flyover tomorrow from the US Air Force. F 35 stealth fighters are going to do a flyover to salute first responders. Will be quite a sight.

They’ve been doing this lots of places and I really think it’s the perfect example of govt stupidity. It costs $44,000 an hour to fly this $100,000,000 jet to “salute” first responders that our govt/military didn’t have basic PPE supplies stockpiled for. Say what you will about the pandemic but it’s really highlighted how mismanaged and stupid our govt is. Eisenhower was right about the military industrial complex.

You do realize that these flights are part of training exercises that they would be flying in different areas. The pilots must have a minimum number of flight hours each year to remain proficient.

This was not just a flyover. This was part of a normal refueling training exercise that they do out of the reserve Air Force base in Niagara Falls. They do these over Lake Erie.and the Adirondacks After the training exercise was complete the jets broke off and did the flyover of parts of Western NY. Out and back I’m not sure if it matters if necessary or not. They fly frequently out of there. They like to drop down in between the mountains down here and maneuver through them. I do know that you don’t want to be in a canoe in the middle of the Kinzua reservoir when they buzz you at 1000 ft.as happened to me. Feels like your inside a volcano. Lol
IE. there up there flying anyways. Might as well call it a salute

You're so right about the M/I complex. We need our government to maintain law and order, to provide a safety net for the needy and for emergencies, build infrastructure, and maintain relations with other countries, and we have one of the best governments in the world doing these things. However, it's been proven time and again that governments in general are inefficient and when they get involved in too many things it creates complex issues, hence the less they do beyond the scope of their responsibilities the better. IMO government should not be making day to day decisions on how we should live, should not be selling goods such as liquor and lottery tickets, should not be running a delivery service such as delivering mail, and the military doesn't need to be the world's largest employer to be powerful, and should not have military bases all over the world (the US has nearly 800 military bases in more than 70 countries) Our government shouldn't be telling other governments how to govern unless they ask for assistance. Interfering with other governments and having bases on foreign soil unbalances their leadership structure and creates a tumultuous complexity that we then spend billions more trying to fix with our own military/industrial complex.
To summarize my rant; The Founding Fathers intended and designed a "limited" government model that our current elected officials are ignoring.

Will be entering 4th wk of opening w rates continuing to drop to 2% despite increase testing. Deaths at 58 all compromised pts. Attitudes of people’s coming into office is pissed and if indication of this country there is about to be mutiny on the ship.
And worse... I cancelled my Aug Cali surf trip as it appears they still be on shitdown. Crap. I hope Musk wins his lawsuit against them and breaks their idiot bank of thot. There is to be many a large and small businesses that will drown and the ones that survive will have layoffs to the govt nipple. Luckily my employees, all younger than me people , were glad to return to work even w a good govnt bonus unemployment ck coming each wk.

Mutiny? Well, you may be a prophet. We have only two political parties in this country, which always seemed odd to me, whose idea was it to limit our choices? Anyway, here in PA the one party seems to work for small businesses, but the other party downright opposes small businesses most of the time, even though they try to tell us different, their actions speak louder than their words. And since COVID19 it's gotten much worse, the big corporate stores like Lowes, Walmart, Amazon, McDonald's, and Whole foods have been doing a booming business. A lot of the little mom and pop stores in the same business's have been shut down by some obscure portion of the governor's decrees, and he has no interest in helping them or giving them permission to open. So Lowes and Walmart's store and parking lot is packed, selling anything and everything, including selling hardware, but the little one man hardware store down the street from me isn't allowed to open, meanwhile our democratic governor is busy playing political games on tv. History tells us you can push people so far and then they tend to revolt against tyranny. Where are all the negotiators and peacemakers who used to cut deals in government, when you need them? An interesting tidbit, right before COVID19 our governor went on a lengthy rant about the need for gun control.

Our legislature overwhelmingly gave the Governor full authority to be King back in March. So far he’s made 29 executive orders and changed over 250 laws. He’s also put himself in charge of any budgetary issues. The Democratic legislature doesn’t like it now but, there’s no way they’re going against the Governor. They stick together like flies. So here in NY there is no escape, no mutiny , no call to reign back the Governor. If someone dare resist they will be dealt a blow from the police or another State department. There is no one backing up the average guy. I really feel the Feds are going to have to bring in the military and take over. I see the same for CA. Otherwise this suppression will last, well some have said forever.

Guy was in office yesterday that heads up a company of 18000 employees across the country. Have stayed n force working thru the shitdown and only 24 positive corona cases among them none serious. Never hear those numbers blasted do we?
Released some frustration of watching an early 70s Penguin hockey game. No helmets or face shields except the chainsaw massacre mask on the goalie. Sure no social distancing with their repeated rumblings on the ice. Not this much blood in an ER. Gotta luv it.

Dogghr my sister lives in Jersey city and she tells me this thing is insane there. She lives alone and sees no one except thru virtual happy hours. Here I do not know anyone that has had it and further I do not know anyone that knows anyone that has had it. Clearly, this virus does not like it here and nor where your company head of 18,000 employees is located. I'm not so sure we should be, NO; I'm convinced that we here should not be following Cuomo's strategies here. The don't work strategies at this time do not apply here just like they do not apply in your area. I'm all for shaking hands but then washing them, visiting neighbors but sitting a distance apart and showing each other our new deer stands but either walking or driving separate side by sides.

All fisherman are welcome at our cottage business and of course we practice extra precautionary measures but fishing with friends or any other activity doesn't need to stop because of what is regrettably happening elsewhere.

Well, I’m finally skeered ! Skeered our country is lost. There is so much corruption in Washington, the various state governments, and even the local, that I don’t think we ever recover. It has gotten to where I don’t even want to watch the news because I get so pissed off. A grown man shouldn’t be hollering at the fools on tv.......

I would add to MM’s last paragraph in post #250 .....” that our current elected officials are ignoring” ..........and have been for too long !

Perhaps overkill. Perhaps not. How do you want your lives of your great great great grandchildren to be?? Don’t be quite in the wilderness. Voice your opinion in today’s world. We didn’t fight for a democracy for no reason. We have a govnt for the People. Not the other way around as has, and in some places, may still exist.
Take my ramblings and comparisons to early union organization of working people and govnt militias against them for what it’s worth , but I’ll tell you this, we may not be much of a State but you can bet your sweet ass that Montani Semper Liberi!

Over the pass the virus is all to do about nothing. On my side of the pass my conservative neighbors have avoided me like the plague since my most recent return from Michigan. Sunday go to meetin is still on hold due to possible health concerns.

Still plugging away here in Oklahoma...when all of this started I stopped shaking hands and at 1 time even washed the cash I was paid but I am over all of that now. Brushhogged all day yesterday for a guy and Thursday will be popping a bunch of stumps then it’s off to be with my love for a few days in SD for our anniversary and her Birthday and as soon as I get back I have several jobs lined up for the dozer...weather permitting...

Eating in Restaurants now but the business is really slow due to the fear that has been perpetuated. Beef and pork is out of this world high and hard to come by...idiocracy...
