Anyone else just not into it this year?

Cooler weather coming into our area. Should be nice.

I'm also not that into it right now. Between my 2 year old and almost every October and November weekend planned Im not sure when I will get out. I'll probably take a day off early November for bow. In addition I cant eat red meat because of the meat tick and the closest proccessor closed so I have to process it myself which I'm just not up for. I dont like to waste meat.

I'm actually looking forward to predators this year. Lots of cats and coyotes on our new place. Might try some trapping.

jteeen - Anyone that doesn't know about the red meat allergy due to a certain tick bite should do some reading. I had a buddy down to my farm 2 years ago that was bit by a tick after killing a hog. Short story...within about 6 weeks he was violently sick with vomiting, horrible cramps & chills any time he consumed red meat. Ends up, the tick bite was the variety that transmits the red meat allergy. It's taken him almost 2 years to get over this with all kinds of meds. He is now able to consume a small portion of red meat again and this from a guy that loves red meat. Bad deal all the way around. That would sure put a damper on my desire to hunt if I couldn't eat the meat.

Yep. That right there would suck. About as bad as a shellfish allergy. Course I could probably lose weight and help my heart, but......

I think it was 2017. I remember pulling a tick off my arm and wondering if it was a lonestar tick. I think at most it was on for 2 or 3 hours which is why I don't have anaphylaxis from red meat, I just get really sick.

I'm at one year cheeseburger free, have lost a lot of weight, but would rather be fat and cheeseburger happy.

If it wasn't the above tick then it was Adair, Hughes, or Craig county. So you're surrounded!

I got tick fever when I was 14...my most profound side effect was I didn’t sweat for nearly 30 years. I couldn’t take the heat very well due to that...since then I have had hundreds of ticks stuck on me including several already this year...

Just curious,Okie

Still not into it?

Oh, I am into it big time now. I got a great 13 point with bow. Got my grandson on a deer he was able to shoot and muzzleloader season opens tomorrow and the wife and I are stoked about it! The only damper now is the weather. Been raining solid since Wednesday night at 9:00 pm and not supposed to stop until Saturday afternoon...they should really be moving after all that!
