Here is a buck who appears to be a bully. Have a pic with his ears laid back clearing the area of other deer. He also does not hang out with the other bucks in the area.

I would like opinions on age, without the rack complicating things. I'll share the full pics after we get some guesses.

Here is a different buck from the same angle for comparison

Also, yes that is a piebald buck in the background of the 1st picture, that was a nothing last year, so I believe him to be 2.5 this year.

Anyone want to change their guess now?

I swear this is the same deer. At first I had totally written him off to what I just assumed was a 2.5 y/o due to his unimpressive rack. But comparing him to other 2 & 3 year olds from the same camera, he has (seemingly) short, stubby legs and is really filled out. I'm guessing him at least at 4.5, maybe 5.5. Since I believe him to be a bully, he'll be on my hit list.

I still think 3.5. The picture taken on 8/12 makes him look a little bit younger than the other pics. His neck also doesn't meet his brisket the way a 4.5+ usually does. Again, I'm no expert though.

Could just be a chunky 3.5. I'm not sure. Don't have many old deer around, but some young ones with great potential, so he might be in trouble. I shot what I thought was a chunky 3.5 y/o with my bow last year and was happy as heck. I'd like to start holding out for 4.5's, but ya can't kill what isn't there.

Nope I still think he is 4.5 to 5.5 he just is never going to have anything on his head. He is thick from front to back almost rectangle shaped body. I would put him at least 4.5. Shoot him and get him out of there to make room for a bigger racked old buck

That is the plan. At this point he's just a bully who needs to be put in his place (in my freezer). Interesting how some just don't have the potential like other bucks in the exact same area.

The one in my avatar is a good example. Not much of a rack, 8 yr old plus age and over 300#. He was a bully that even pushed doe out of the field he was feeding in. I killed him on Oct. 3rd as he was pushing deer out of the field bellowing his deep nasty sounding bellow at all of them. He did break 140" but even in his younger years he didn't have much of a rack.
