IMG_0001.JPG It has been the best summer I can remember here at the farm. It has rained consistently all summer and is actually muddy now in mid July. Temperatures have been moderate relatively which puts less stress on everything. All the plots look great as well as all the native growth. I'm hoping for an exciting season.

I just put two cameras out and this was literally the first pic I got. Whats amazing is the time of the photo. I'm on the farm at all times of day and this summer it has been rare to see deer excepting at dark.

great pics

Did you rig PVC pipes on legs of feeder?

I did similar on my 2 gravity feeders and it cured the coon bandit problem

bill

I did put the pvc on the feeder legs and it was somewhat effective. The bucket works much better.

Great deer. The quality of bucks in LA is really improving. What parish? Or what quarter of the state?
Rapides Parish right in the middle of the state. La is a sleeper state for big bucks. Lush living conditions. Easy to raise the nutritional plane. Historically bucks have simply never had a chance to age. Where they are allowed to get old good things happen. I think that buck to be a 6 yr old and was mid 90's last year.

Wow what a great first picture. I can only imagine the amount of green you have over that way with this tropical weather. Good job. Enjoy your posts

Good buck. I have a buddy that hunts with me every year and has killed some good free range bucks in La. I know you can grow some down there. He lives around Olla but I think he kills his good deer over around the Mississippi if I remember correct.

If your from Olla you might be a redneck:)

Lots of places to hunt in La. Its why its called the Sportsmans Paradise

Oh he are a redneck :). Yes it is beautiful down there. I went down and did some goose and duck hunting several years ago and had a blast. We were hunting down south of Garyville area if I remember right.

Love seeing pics of your bucks Baker. Age is a beautiful thing. Most guys including me will prolly never see a 6 plus year old buck on their property. Just too much hunting pressure in the area. They are majestic animals when they are allowed to mature.

Really nice bucks down there! I used to work with a fellow from Opelousas, I may have spelled that wrong, who hunted on a public place near and had stories of some nice deer. He made the best camp duck gumbo I've ever ate.
