2017 Grafting

It's crazy how different some of the wild apples taste. I personally like a bit of astringency, a hint of bite to my apple, and there's one that starts sweet then produces an almost spicy, complex flavor that's my favorite. Not like anything I've ever tasted grown commercially. But my sample pool is relatively limited. I've never tried most of the antique varieties or the English cider apples. You're of course welcome to whatever you want; let me know when the time comes.

Sorry Tommy, I didn't see this until this morning. I have one tree that had started to drop but was still holding a pile of apples last weekend; I can try to get a picture this weekend. The other two that I wanted to share and are in my mind the most interesting mostly finished dropping by mid-November, though there may still be a few holding. Two are yellow and one is red. I've attached an image from this spring of one of the trees.
