2 big persimmons - two years after topworking

These were around 4 inch DBH persimmons that I topworked two years ago. Both had a lot of fruit the first year after topworking.

The first one is already healed completely over. The second has a little way to go.

Edit - I now think it was 3 years instead of two.

I think it was Meader. I do have Deer Magnet on some trees I bought rather than topworking. But I set them in some hard ground and they have been slow fruiting. I gave them a shot of fertilize recently and hope it helps.

I was just checking. A few years back I sent some DM scions to somebody and they indicated that they sent some of them to you. Was wondering if those trees might have some North MS heritage!

When does DM start and finish in your zone?

To be honest they are not a lot later than some my native trees. They start in October and finish in mid to late Nov.

That's the time frame that is most important to me. I want a lot of my cultivars to be early like that rather than so late. When mine start dropping I may contact you to compare how much difference our locations make in drop time. I suspect that mine will start dropping later than yours, but I hope not a lot later.

That’s pretty much what I’ve seen with just about all tree fruit. The farther south you go the earlier the drop time actually is.
