    Sweetgum

They are tough to keep under control. I have never burned my fields but I’m hope that will help keep them in check. Bushogging doesn’t seem to be doing the trick anymore. They just keep coming back thicker.

    Sweetgum

Thanks. What herbicide do you recommend? I think the state forester told me 2-4D.

    Sweetgum

I have an area that is about an acre that I have neglected for a couple of years that is now solid sweetgum saplings. They are now too big to bushog with my tractor. Would I be better off to try to spray them or get someone with a brush cutter on a skid steer to clear them first? I plan on...

    Killing Sweetgums

Yeah, I normally treat them this way but didn't this time. This time of year with the sap rising I don't have much luck treating the stumps.

    Killing Sweetgums

I have an old field that has a few areas that have been overtaken with sweetgum saplings. I have been bush hogging them but need to treat them with something because they are just getting worse every year. I thought about spraying with Gly once they start to leaf out this spring. Any suggestions?

Adding these broad heads to the mix this year

We had another girl back in late October 2018. On top of that we acquired 17 acres and have been prepping it for a house build that will hopefully start here in the next couple of weeks. I have worked my but off on building a shop there this summer. On top of that and trying to get our...

Adding these broad heads to the mix this year

Triple C, I haven't been on the forum in a couple of years. It's good to see your still chasing them with the trad bow. I've shot several deer with single bevels and you shouldn't have any problems with them. I use Grizzly heads and have been very happy with them.

    Help Creating Bedding Cover

I’m no expert but it sounds like cutting pockets an acre in size in the right places would do the trick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Alamo Switchgrass?

I have planted several small areas and strips on my place in North Alabama with good results. I sprayed dialed and planted some spots and others I just sprayed sowed and bushhogged. Both ways have worked well but disking worked the best. In about 3 years it was doing good and well over my...

    New Adult Hunter, go solo?

For the most part I learned on my own back when I was about 18. I would talk to people and ask questions but as far as actually doing it I just jumped in and tried. None of it is rocket science, you can figure it out especially with the resources that we have nowadays on the internet. A few...

    Bow Quiver or Hip Quiver???

I used a side quiver this season. I have decided to go back to a bow quiver for next year. I will keep the side quiver for stump shooting and small game hunting.

Stand access vs. a deer's sense of smell

I wear rubber boots that I am very careful not to touch. I keep them in a plastic bin with activated carbon and only touch the top of them with gloves on to handle them. I rarely get busted on my trails in to the stand. I have watched deer pick up on where I walked in and follow it directly...

    Turnips in food plot

That is a good problem to have. I only planted a half acre and it was wiped out by December.

Let's hear your creative ideas for bedding areas

Here is the tree that fell over and lived. I just did a little more cleaning out underneath it this week. Hopefully they will be bedding there again this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Let's hear your creative ideas for bedding areas

I have attempted to create bedding by hinge cutting areas in our open hardwoods on the side of the mountain at the back of our property. This year I went to scout for bedding. There were several single beds around these areas but not in the actual hingecuts. I created the hingecut areas on...

    Oh those Bradford pears...

Anyone plant trees for hunting blind

I haven't done it but I think it would work great. Leyland Cypress might grow faster though.

    Plot Saver?

Has anyone tried a PlotSaver system or anything similar? I don't really want to invest in an electric fence for my plots.

    New broadheads

I shot a deer with my longbow and a Grizzly broad head this year. Nothing to malfunction on a fixed blade.[emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
